Kaffe's clever Stripes – we think you'll buy them like a Shot

That beautiful brand-new Handkerchief Quilt Kit at the top of this newsletter is made from Kaffe Fassett's superb Shots and Stripes 2025 collection

The kit, which makes up to just under 85in (2.15m) square, has been designed by Kaffe himself using his Woven Stripes fabrics, now in a new range of colours for 2025.

It includes all the fabric to make the quilt, which uses squares cut in different sizes – there\s over 24m/26yd of fabric in the kit, along with complete instructions to make the quilt-top.

Complementing the Woven Stripes fabrics, which include stripes of various widths, available both by the metre and in a choice of Pre-cut Packs, is Kaffe's collection of Plain Colours in Shot Cotton.

The fabrics were created as a response to the need for some plain and calmer blocks in Kaffe's quilts, and to isolate the richly coloured strips and floral prints.

Unlike normal; fabrics, which are woven from plain fabrics and then printed or dyed with a colour and/or pattern, shot cottons are woven using two different colours of hand-dyed cotton thread: one colour for the warp and another for the weft.

This combination of fibres gives these fabrics a soft, almost iridescent look, which is instantly appealing. No wonder they're proving so popular!

Come and meet Kaffe and Brandon at Festival

A week to go until The Festival of Quilts, and we're really excited we'll have both Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably on our stand at the show to launch Kaffe's brand-new book, Quilts in London

They'll be with us on Stand G58 at 11am and 2pm on both Thursday August 1st and Friday 2nd, to sign books and talk about the quilts in the new book.

We'll also have the Fabric Packs to make the designs from the book and some Kaffe favourites – you can pre-order them online before the end of Monday, to collect at the show.

All the designs from the book are on our website – so don't miss out on your favourites, as they tend to sell really fast at the show.

This is the ever-so-angelic Christmas Stocking Panel from the brand-new festive fabric collection from Lewis & Irene, Away in a Manger

Drawing its inspiration from one of the oldest and best-loved Christmas carols.

dating back to the early 1880s, and sung in one of two musical settings.

The carol evokes the scene of the Nativity, and that's what's seen in the fabric collection, which includes a Double-edge Border Print showing the Magi journeying on ther camels, overseen by a sky full of angels.

There's also a very festive Bunting Panel (above),which might be just the thing for decorating crib scenes or nativity plays, while the Advent Calendar Panel will have you counting down from the beginning of December.

All the fabrics, which are enhanced with glistening metallic detailing, are available by the metre or in a 15-piece Full Collection Fat Quarter Pack, (seen below).

And there's also a co-ordinating six-piece Fat Quarter Pack of Lewis & Irene's Bumbleberries blenders.

Crib-sized Manger quilt kits, too

This is one of two Away in a Manger Quilt Kits, making up to a very crib-friendly 48in square. Designed by Sally Ablett, the kits contain all the fabric for the quilt-top, and include full instructions.
