WELCOME BACK, TIGERS!

FIRST DAY FOR STUDENTS—TUESDAY, AUGUST 18, 2026

Welcome to a new school year at Bradford Woods Elementary!

On behalf of the entire Bradford Woods Elementary staff, I hope you and your family are enjoying a safe, restful, and fun-filled summer. As the new principal of BWE, I am honored to join such an exceptional school community, and I am excited to welcome our students back for another incredible year of learning and growth.

Bradford Woods Elementary is truly a special place where every child is known, valued, and cared for by a dedicated team of educators and staff. From the moment I stepped into this building, it was clear that the strong relationships among our students, staff, and families are what make BWE so extraordinary.

This year begins with an exciting achievement worth celebrating. Bradford Woods Elementary was recently ranked No.1 Best Public Elementary School in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and Pennsylvania by Niche Best Schools. What an incredible testament to the hard work, dedication, and excellence of our students, staff, and families. This recognition reflects the caring culture, high expectations, and commitment to success that define our school community.

Our success at BWE goes far beyond academics. We are committed to educating the whole child by fostering curiosity, confidence, kindness, and resilience while building meaningful relationships with every student and family. Together, we create an environment where children feel supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.

Below, you'll find important information to help your family prepare for the start of the school year. We look forward to partnering with you throughout the year. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to help.

Thank you for being such an important part of the Bradford Woods Elementary community. We can't wait to welcome our students back and begin another outstanding school year together!

Respectfully,

Mrs. Jill Fleming-Salopek

Principal

JOIN OUR SCHOOL PFA

Each year, the BWE PFA collects a per-family activity fee ($30) at the start of the school year for EACH family. This fee covers field trip transportation, field day activities, assemblies, playground materials, Fall Family Night, and much more. These events and expenses are NOT covered by the district. By collecting this fee in advance, the PFA and teachers can effectively coordinate and plan these activities and purchases. Completing your registration also grants you access to the school directory, after-school programs, and homeroom parent registration. To ensure your children have all the opportunities they enjoy throughout the year, please help us streamline this process by paying the fee at the beginning of the school year.

Please note: Families should not pay the PFA Activity Fee until August 1, 2026, to ensure that your membership is valid for the upcoming school year. Thank you.

To support these programs and complete your registration, you can pay your PFA student activity fee online to join today!
