Overview of the Augmented Enterprise Summit 2022 | |
|
The Augmented Enterprise Summit (AES) is a hub for the enterprise use cases of XR. During the three-day conference, XR practitioners shared challenges, successes, and goals for implementing XR in their organizations. While the focus of this conference was not explicitly on healthcare, listening to tangible XR use cases and receiving updates on the industry will help innovators across MGB as they begin to use XR technologies to solve problems.
Today, the prominent use cases for XR involve interacting with 3D models and using AR with head-mounted video to provide expert technical assistance. In the 3D model space, immersive collaboration is an evolving capability that manufacturing and BIM industries are taking advantage of to improve workflows. These companies use headsets to visualize and edit models in a virtual environment and get signoffs on construction projects. The other primary use case demonstrated at AES was remote technical assistance. For B2B companies that sell complex equipment, AR headsets with cameras enable virtual troubleshooting and service to their products in the field.

Guidance for Sharing Model Code and Data as a Requirement for Publication
As AI/ML research continues to expand, there are increasing privacy concerns stemming from the publication or dissemination of model code, hyperparameters, weights, and training datasets. At the same time, in an effort to advance the field, ensure scientific reproducibility, and embrace open science, many journals and granting agencies are requiring machine learning model code with or without associated data to be shared as a requirement for publication. This document provides guidance for researchers as they consider when to publish and what elements to share as part of a discrete individual research project (i.e. not part of an on-going open source activity).
