Dear Eddy,

I hope this message finds you well and thriving.

Digital Care Hub, in collaboration with The PCS, is developing a BYOD policy tool. They are seeking volunteers to test the tool and providers willing to share their existing BYOD documents to inform our ongoing work. These documents can be anonymized.

If you are interested in participating in the testing or providing your BYOD documents, and you consent to sharing your details with Digital Care Hub and The PCS, please contact me using the email address: digital@oacp.org.uk

Recruitment for testers for the BYOD policy tool

The PSC, on behalf of the 'Better Security, Better Care' programme at the Digital Care Hub, are looking to speak to adult social care staff as part of our research to create an interactive 'Bring Your Own Device' policy creation tool.

We know that many adult social care providers allow staff to use their own devices (e.g. smartphones) for work purposes, but aren't confident in how to have the right policies and controls in place to minimise the risks. We therefore want to help providers to create effective policies that help them protect cyber security and data privacy, through a new policy creation tool.

We're hoping to speak with adult social care providers to help us develop this tool. During these conversations, we will:

  • Ask questions about your needs and experiences with Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) schemes and policies
  • Share the developing policy creation tool, and hear any thoughts you have on what works well and what doesn't

We wouldn't expect you to bring anything to the meeting, and you won't need to prepare anything in advance. We also wouldn't expect interviewees to have any technical knowledge or experience, as we want to make sure that the tool is easy to understand for people from non-technical backgrounds as well.

For phase 1:

The interview would be 45 minutes long and take place online over MS Teams, ideally during the weeks of 12th May or 19th May.

For phase 2:

The interview would be 45-60 minutes long, and take place either online over MS Teams or in person. These would ideally be between 26th May and 20th June.

We want to talk to a wide range of organisations that use BYOD schemes, and are particularly interested in speaking with:

  • Both those who have BYOD policies in place, and those who don't
  • People responsible for data protection who are in non-technical roles (e.g. owners, directors)
  • People who work for home care providers
  • People who work for organisations with <20 employees

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes

Angie
