To our valued Customers:

It is imperative that every American take steps to avoid transmission of the Coronavirus in order to reduce exposure rates, especially to those at greater risk.
As we all adjust to the challenges of this pandemic, our first concern is with the health of our employees and families. Still, we are all part of an economy that provides Americans with fresh produce, something that is even more important right now. Babé Farms has adopted a culture of food safety in our operations and remains fully committed to providing you with safe, fresh, and healthy produce. Out of an abundance of caution we have put additional measures in place to ensure safe vegetables and leafy greens.

We reassure that we are communicating with our employees to continue good hygiene practices, as outlined in the company GAP program. We require employees to stay home if they are sick, distance themselves from others that are sick, recognize signs and symptoms of the flu virus, continue proper hand-washing and frequently clean contact surfaces, tools, and objects in use. All foremen are to observe that the employees perform all mentioned practices. As of now, sales staff are still working from the office but have the option to work from home as needed. They are also following all mentioned safety and hygiene practices.

We will get through this the same way we have always tackled challenges facing our industry – together. Thank you for your support and commitment, and please don’t hesitate to let us know of any concerns as we navigate through this crisis.

With kids ranging from 6 - 14, the groups goal was to learn more about local crops, tractors / equipment, and soil structure and composition. Our President/Owner, Jeff Lundberg and Production Manager, Ryan Claassen had a great time educating the kids showing them what Babé Farms is all about!
Fennel, Kohlrabi,
and Apple Salad
by Sarah Strachan

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 fennel bulbs*, thinly sliced (about 4 cups)
  • 2 large bulbs kohlrabi, outer skin removed and slice into matchsticks (about 2 cups)
  • 1 cup green apple, peeled and sliced into matchsticks (about 1 large apple)
  • 1 cup pomegranate arils
  • 1/2 cup green onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds, toasted if desired
  • Handful of fennel fronds, roughly chopped
  • For the dressing:
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

DIRECTIONS

1) Slice veggies / fruit and add to a large bowl. Add the remaining salad ingredients.

2) In a small mason jar, combine the dressing ingredients and give it a good shake to emulsify.

3) Pour the dressing over the veggies and toss to combine.

*Remove the stalks of the fennel (they’re too tough) - though you can save some of the fronds for garnish later. Remove the outer leaves of the bulb (if browned or looking less fresh) and the inner core. Slice what’s left!
Babé Farms recently launched a digital catalogue where anyone can view our entire product line. We feel this will help our customers to better familiarize themselves with our products, pack sizes, etc. Check out the most recent catalogue below!
