Leash Rule and Trash Bin Storage Violations are Increasing
Over the past few months, we have seen an increase in community standards violations in several areas:
Leash Rule
|
|
Over the holidays, our Community Patrol officers responded to several incidents involving uncontrolled dogs, including attacks on other dogs. As stated in Babcock Ranch community standards documentation, all dogs must be on a leash and controlled by their owners at all times. Retractable leashes must not be excessively long. These rules apply in all community areas, open spaces and parks.
Due to the increasing number of violations, we will now refer animal violation issues to the Charlotte County Sherriff's Office.
Trash Receptacle Storage
|
|
Please remove trash and recycling receptacles from the curb as soon as possible after collection. Bins may be placed curbside beginning at 8 p.m. the night before pickup and must be removed by 6 p.m. on pickup day. Violators will be fined up to $100 after three infractions.

Last Call for Christmas Tree Pickup
Ecologic has been picking up live Christmas trees throughout Babcock Ranch for the past week and will continue doing so until next Wednesday, Jan. 11. Drivers will not collect trees that are inside plastic bags OR have any decorations or tree stand still attached. Do not place trees inside waste or recycling containers.

Cypress Lodge is Family Friendly
With the seasonal influx of residents, we're seeing more and more people taking advantage of Cypress Lodge and pool.
Please remember that glass is not permitted in the pool area. Also, we ask that you respect the family atmosphere of the amenity and refrain from using profane or vulgar language.

Wildlife Photo of the Week: Osprey
|
|
POOL VISITOR: A young osprey sits atop the pool cage at Niena Pedrahita-Pirri's home at Babcock National. Ospreys are sometimes mistaken for bald eagles due to their similar coloration.

Made for Fishing
This week’s Wildlife Photos of the Week were submitted by Niena Piedrahita-Pirri. The photos show an older juvenile osprey sitting atop her pool cage on Greenway Boulevard at Babcock National.
As usual, we turned to Babcock Ranch Environmental Mitigation Manager Christina Kontos for her observations: The osprey is a raptor species that stands at a height of 23 inches fully grown and has a wingspan of 72 inches.
This species is sometimes mistaken for the bald eagle. However, some key observations to assist in distinguishing the difference between these two birds of prey is that the osprey has a white underside and head, a brownish body, and a black line that extends from the eyes to the wings, whereas the bald eagle primarily has a dark brown body, white head, white tail, and yellow bill.
Fun fact: this raptor has a reversible fourth toe and short spines on its feet to help them grasp slippery fish for greater hunting success.

Trash Pickup Days Have Changed
|
|
The schedule for Ecologic's residential waste and recycling pickups has changed with the new year.
The change was made to streamline collection routes as Babcock Ranch continues to grow, Ecologic Operations Manager Tony Marinacci said in a letter to residents. The letter was included with quarterly billing statements from the Babcock Ranch Residential Association.
