COMMUNITY UPDATE
Cleanup, Repairs Continue in Community; Schools Reopen Tuesday
As the cleanup continues in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, we all should be proud of how our community and its residents have weathered the storm.

You've probably seen some of the many news reports about Babcock Ranch that have been published in the past week. We are being held out as a model for community design, engineering and resilience in the face of a massive storm that caused major damage elsewhere in the state.

Our residents have been extremely generous in volunteering their time, making donations, and offering words of support to others around us who faced a myriad of difficulties after the storm.

As we continue to clean up, we'd like to share a brief update on what to expect in the days ahead:

Staff Making Progress

The Babcock Ranch Maintenance staff has been cleaning, fixing and generally sprucing up the grounds since immediately after the storm passed last week. That work continues into next week.

There is damage to the Cypress Lodge fence and that will be taken care of by our fencing contractor in the coming days.

Landscaping Remediation

Our landscaping contractor Brightview has also been working non-stop since the storm. Their work will resume Monday and will include mowing.

Schools to Reopen

Classes are scheduled to resume Tuesday at Babcock Neighborhood School and High School. Please exercise caution as students move through the community on foot and by bicycle.

Paving and Curb Repair

Our paving contractor will begin applying the final layer of asphalt in some neighborhoods beginning Monday. This enhancement -- called a road lift or overlay -- will give the streets a smooth, finished look and will eliminate high spots around utility access covers. Curb repairs will also begin at the same time.

We will release a detailed schedule once it has been confirmed by the contractor.

More Updates to Follow

Please watch your email for additional information as it becomes available. There is a lot going on at Babcock Ranch and we will do our best to keep all residents in the loop. Be sure to sign up for CivicReady, our emergency/urgent messaging platform, for time-sensitive updates.
