Golf carts are a big part of Babcock Ranch. But it's important to remember that both Florida law and community policies apply to the operation of golf carts, which must be registered with the HOA. Here's a link to the registration form.
For the safety of all residents and visitors, please observe the following rules of the road:
- Individuals may not operate golf carts on sidewalks, bike lanes or unpaved trails.
- The minimum age to legally operate a golf cart in the State of Florida is 14 years old.
Please visit the links below for a comprehensive listing of golf cart rules.

Bins Must be Kept Out of Sight
|
|
Containers must be stowed out of sight no later than 8 p.m. on the day of pickup.
|
|
Help Keep Our Community Beautiful
The visual appeal of Babcock Ranch neighborhoods is something all residents appreciate. Please do your part and remember to properly stow trash and recycling bins out of sight. In recent weeks, we've seen an increase in bins stored outside of garages and other areas where they can be easily seen from the road.
Remember these important points about household trash and recycling management:
- Containers can be put on the curb after 6 p.m. the night before pickup but must be on the curb by 6 a.m.on the morning of pickup.
- Arrows on containers must be toward the street and wheels toward your home.
- Containers must be put away by 8 p.m. after pickup.
- Click below for a complete explanation of trash and recycling policies.

Florida Power & Light is installing new utility towers along SR 31, as shown in this photo, which was taken early Friday morning.
|
|
As we reminded you via email several days ago, Florida Power & Light is making rapid progress on new utility towers being installed along State Road 31.
As a result, two adjacent hiking trails at Babcock Ranch have been temporarily closed. The affected areas include a section of Palmetto Path near Sunset Lake and all of Chain of Lakes Trail. Signs will mark the areas to be closed.
Thank you in advance for your patience and support. We will keep you updated as the project continues.

Wildlife Photo of the Week: American Alligator
|
|
An American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) at Sunset Lake. This young specimen was photographed by Richard Kinley.

|
Keep Your Distance from this Reptile
A native species with a strong Florida identity is the subject of this week's Wildlife Photo of the Week. The American Alligator above was captured through the lens of Richard Kinley, who recently encountered the reptile at Sunset Lake.
We asked Babcock Ranch Environmental Mitigation Manager Christina Kontos for her insights about the local alligator population:
"Residents should enjoy their presence at a safe distance," she said. "It's important that we never feed an alligator because it will cause them to lose their natural fear by learning to associate people with food. That will ultimately lead to its removal as a nuisance alligator."
"Coexisting with this ancient species and respecting them in their natural habitat is an awesome experience to appreciate here at Babcock Ranch."
If you've recently taken a shareable wildlife photo at Babcock Ranch, we'd love to showcase it here for all to enjoy. If yours is chosen, you'll receive a $10 gift card from a Babcock Ranch business such as Publix or Slater's. Get contest details here.
