Babcock Ranch HOA Adopts New Emergency Alert System for Residents
Verify Your Contact Details to Receive Alerts

The Babcock Ranch Residential Association is now using CivicReady to send emergency alerts to our residents and businesses via text, voicemail and email.

In most cases, if you received this newsletter in your name, you are already signed up for email alerts, Please log in to verify and update your contact information. We recommend that you add your mobile telephone number to receive text alerts.

We strongly urge you to take advantage of this system to help protect you, your family and your property when severe weather or other emergency situations arise.

"CivicReady will be our go-to platform when we have urgent information to get out quickly," said Community Manager Luke Kenzik. "As we are in the beginning of hurricane season, we wanted to make sure we had this critical communication tool in place."

The system is intended to be used for emergency alerts, as well as non-emergency incidents that may have significant impacts on residents. Emergency Alerts could be related to specific hazards that require some kind of action to be taken such as evacuation, shelter in place, boil water orders, etc.

If you wish to subscribe to SMS text messages only, text your ZIP code to 38276. There is also a mobile app available. The app is not required to receive alerts. You can easily opt out of alerts at any time.

Wildlife Photo of the Week: Meadowlark

Songbird is a Frequent Visitor to Backyard Feeders

This week's prize for WIldlife Photo of the Week goes to resident Richard Kinley, who photographed an eastern meadowlark near Sunset Lake.

Frequently seen in backyard bird feeders, this songbird is known for its sweet, lazy whistle. (You can hear it here.)

According to Babcock Ranch Environmental Mitigation Manager Christina Kontos, eastern meadowlarks are ground nesters. "Their nests are constructed within a small depression or even a hoof print concealed by dense vegetation, then woven with grasses, strips of bark and plant stems," she said. "Males typically accept 2-3 females within their territories and therefore can have 2-3 mates at a time!"

If you've recently taken a shareable wildlife photo at Babcock Ranch, we'd love to showcase it here for all to enjoy. If yours is chosen, you'll receive a $10 gift card from a Babcock Ranch business such as Publix or Slater's. Get contest details here.
