B Street Drainage Work Anticipated to Start January 20, 2025

Curry Preserve from Cypress Parkway to Lake Babcock Drive Closed Off Temporarily

Temporary road closures as part of drainage construction for B Street are now anticipated to start January 20, 2025, with Curry Preserve Drive closed to traffic from Cypress Parkway to Lake Babcock Drive. Bullhorn Park will also be temporarily closed. These traffic patterns are estimated to last through January 24 from the start of drainage construction. Please ensure that you abide by posted speed limit signs and directions of flag persons in and around this construction area. A detailed map of the road and sidewalk closures can be found here. There will be other intermittent road closures and detoured traffic at times within B Street’s construction area, and we will be sure to notify you.

B Street is a planned walkable plaza located across from Founder’s Square in the heart of Babcock Ranch. It will feature a vibrant array of dining, retail, commercial, office, and residential spaces amidst abundant green spaces. We will also keep you informed of B Street’s progress, approved renderings when available, and news on future tenants. Stay tuned!

For your safety, please avoid accessing this site once construction begins. Active construction is underway at Babcock Ranch, including B Street, with heavy machinery in operation. We kindly ask that you refrain from entering these areas to ensure everyone’s well-being. Thank you for your understanding while we continue to build the town of tomorrow.

Babcock Ranch's Replacement of Pipes Due to Past Water Main Breaks is Underway

Preparation Work and Directional Drilling Underneath the Entrance to Curry Preserve Drive and Waterview Landing

Babcock Ranch is in the process of replacing several sections of pipe that have experienced numerous water main breaks caused by construction-related activity along Greenway Boulevard (excluding Babcock National) and Curry Preserve Drive, starting at Greenway Boulevard and ending just north of the Lake Timber community. Initial preparation work and directional drilling have commenced. Portions of sidewalks within the affected area will be closed for the duration of this project. A map of the affected area can be found here.

The pipe installation will continue through late April 2025, and the new pipe is projected to be put into service by May 2025. We will periodically update residents on the progress of this project and any lane closures on the roadway system.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding as we work to improve and keep providing the Babcock Ranch community with the best possible service!

Babcock Ranch Upgrades EV Chargers Located Near the Discovery Center and The Lakehouse Kitchen & Bar

As the most sustainable, resilient, and innovative town of the future, Babcock Ranch is committed to integrating state-of-the-art technologies into the everyday lives of its residents, including the availability and convenience of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Recently, we upgraded eight EV charging stations in the parking lot adjacent to the Discovery Center and the Lakehouse Kitchen & Bar at Founder’s Square and have more EV charging stations available at the Crescent B Commons shopping center. There will now be a cost associated with charging an EV at any of these Telsa charging stations. We are also exploring opportunities to strategically install additional EV charging stations throughout our town, including high-speed chargers. Stay tuned for more!

Muhly Grass Clippings Provide Host of Natural Benefits

Clipping Muhly Grass in the Independent Special Districts areas (arterial/spine roadways) is one of our many important horticultural practices. When the grass reaches a certain height, we'll be pruning it as usual, but this time, we'll be leaving the clippings on the ground. This helps us preserve the unique aesthetics and ecological balance of our community here at Babcock Ranch. This will allow the beautiful Pink Plumes to remain visible while providing several benefits:

  • The clippings will naturally break down, providing nutrients like Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium to the soil. This will reduce our need for granular fertilizer by 25%.
  • The clippings will act as natural mulch, helping to suppress weed growth.
  • They will also help prevent erosion on sloped areas and lower soil temperature, reducing water usage.
  • This practice eliminates the need for processed mulch, aligning with our goal of maintaining a natural-looking landscape with native plants that function within our ecosystem.
