Our next video premier will be of members of the orchestra performing Bach's gorgeous Brandenburg Concerto No. 6, 2nd movement.
The musicians played separately against a "click track" and their individual recordings were edited into the composite video. That's a very different skill from playing in a live ensemble and we think you will be impressed by the results.
The video premieres on Sunday, Dec 6 at 8:00 p.m. Click the link, hit SUBSCRIBE there to get notifications, and share! If you can't make the premiere, the video will be posted on our web site shortly afterwards.
We made the New York Times! This week we were featured in an article about how student music programs around the country are surviving the pandemic. In interviews, the reporter remarked that she was not aware of any other program in the USA preparing so much ensemble music as the ASO/RMS/NOVA collaboration. To wrap up the Fall semester students will give research presentations on the last class evening, this Wednesday Dec 9 at 7:30 p.m. on Zoom. All community members are invited! Topics will include the history of the cello, Beethoven's and Bartok's string quartets, and the history of wind and non-traditional instruments in chamber music. If you wish to attend, please email Mr. Johnston, Music Director and Instructor.
More streaming video premieres of old favorites and new performances coming soon.
