Bach's Lunch
Virtual Chamber Music Festival
More Heartfelt Music from NYC
featuring Carmit Zori, violin, with her daughter,
Amalia Rinehart, piano

Brooklyn calling!
Jeffrey and Stephanie drop in on Carmit to chat about how she's holding up in New York City. In addition to tending to her city-sized garden, watching
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
,
reading mom-recommended books, and sweating over a puzzle, she, too, has been turning to Bach. All three agree that Bach wrote music more complex than the three of them would ever be able to digest in their lifetimes!
A special thanks to Evan Richards for helping us put these videos together and managing our YouTube channel.

For your main course, we offer this performance of Olivier Messiaen's epic
Quartet for the End of Time
from the 2013 season. (The readings between movements are not Messiaen's; they were chosen and added by Jeffrey for this performance.) The last movement,
to which the link will direct you,
is
entitled
Louange à l'Immortalité de Jésus.
It is a deeply moving duet for violin and piano of which
Messiaen says
, "
It is all love. Its slow ascent to the acutely extreme is the ascent of man to his god, the child of God to his Father, the being made divine towards Paradise."
And for dessert, we offer this performance of Luigi Boccherini's Quintet in B-flat Major for flute, violin, viola, and two cellos. Everyone gets their moment in the sun in this frothy confection.
