Back to school joy!
The children at the Mbiriizi Advanced Primary School have three terms a year and this is the beginning of their third term. Their school year is annual, starting at the end of January, and ending shortly after our American Thanksgiving. They absolutely love school and we are so happy to be able to provide them with such a great education.
This is the time of year when we start planning their Christmas Party which we hold just before the school year ends. You have probably already received a mailing and I hope you can help us put on another great party. Often, this is the only party they really get so it is very special. Every girl gets a new dress, every boy a new shirt and they all get a "goody" bag from Mr. and Mrs. Claus that contains sunglasses, candy, Mardi Gras beads, stickers, yo-yos, etc. And, of course, Christmas cake! We also fix them a fancy lunch and we serve them ourselves. (This year there are 7 of us going to Uganda) If you ever want to know the real meaning of Christmas join us some year ... our trip is always scheduled for two weeks before Thanksgiving and it is VERY special!) We are in the process of moving our offices so ... I am late in getting a newsletter out as well as up-to-date postings on Facebook. Hopefully by the end of September we will be back on schedule. Thanks so much for your continued love and support.
