Ask A VC Show with
Eric Feng and host Rebecca Fannin
October 25
VC and tech pro Eric Feng shared all about his new Gold House Ventures, a $30 million fund in Silicon Valley to support tech founders of Asian descent.
It has the backing of many young tech stars who have already made it. Think DoorDash, YouTube, Zoom founders.
Eric believes Asian founders are under-represented when it comes to venture capital. The fund has already made more than 70 investments.
Eric's background at Facebook, Hulu and Kleiner Perkins no doubt has helped to get this new venture off the ground. There's an accelerator too.

AI's Impact in Venture
AI's share of funding dollars averaged around 12% between 2018 and 2022, before rocketing up to 26%, or about $23 billion so far, in 2023. The soaring growth comes as venture funding in North America declined 50% across the board in the first half of the year, according to Crunchbase. Investment in early-stage generative AI companies was the big gainer in the first half of 2023, led by Microsoft’s $10 billion investment in OpenAI.
Ohio Picks up Tech Hub Status
Akron gets one of 31 national Tech Hubs from The White House for sustainable polymer development - eligible for $10 billion pool of federal grants from last year’s CHIPS and Science Act. This economic development initiative is investing in high potential US centers and aims to drive regional innovation and job creation and deploy technology that will advance American competitiveness.
Ohio lands projects as part of a new Appalachian federal ‘clean hydrogen hub’ - one of 7 nationally.
StartupCincy Week attracted 1,000+ attendees to its week-long series of events, which highlighted Cincy as hub of innovation and opportunity.
