SBA and Treasury Announce Simpler PPP Loan Forgiveness Application
The U.S. Small Business Administration, in consultation with the Treasury Department, released a simpler loan forgiveness application for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans of $50,000 or less. This action streamlines the PPP forgiveness process to provide financial and administrative relief to America’s smallest businesses while also ensuring sound stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
SBA and Treasury have also eased the burden on PPP lenders, allowing lenders to process forgiveness applications more swiftly. SBA began approving PPP forgiveness applications and remitting forgiveness payments to PPP lenders for PPP borrowers on October 2, 2020. SBA will continue to process all PPP forgiveness applications in an expeditious manner.

For businesses with existing PPP loans, the Chamber strongly encourages all members to check with their lenders to determine the impact, if any, regarding PPP loan regulations.

BEAC and ADP Develop Strategic Partnerships
The pandemic is creating unique opportunities to form new strategic partnerships to support the goals of the Business Education Advisory Council (BEAC). Over the past four months, the Richmond County School System has been planning and preparing for in-person and virtual learning for students. Teachers are facing unique challenges in providing classroom instruction in a virtual learning environment to over 11k students enrolled in the online learning academy. ADP, a global company with years of experience of delivering instructional content in a virtual environment, volunteered to offer their expertise. Through efforts of the Business Education Advisory Council, a working plan is in progress to coordinate the virtual learning professionals of ADP with the school district’s Teaching and Learning Department. ADP is excited to share best practices and tips on visual, auditory, and kinesthetic instruction in a virtual learning environment. The first “train the trainer” session with the Instructional Technology Specialists and Teacher Quality Facilitators will take place later this fall.
