Each fall brings fresh opportunities to celebrate the accomplishments of our students, teachers, and school leaders—and to strengthen the policies that make innovation in public education possible.

Legislation

The 2025 legislative session is now underway in New Hampshire, and the first round of Legislative Service Requests (LSRs) has been submitted. The Alliance, in partnership with our lobbying firm Bernstein Shur, is working to ensure that charter schools continue to have a strong voice at the State House.

We are collaborating with Representative Donnelly on LSR 2665: Relative to Public Charter Schools and the State Building Code and Governmental Land Use Exemptions. At this point, only bill titles are public. This legislation seeks to reaffirm that charter schools are public schools and to reduce confusion at the local level regarding permit fees and building requirements.

Because 2025 is not a budget year, we do not expect an increase in charter school funding in this cycle. However, we are closely tracking all charter-related bills and will keep you updated as the session progresses.

Cariina is an organizational management system that is specifically built for charter schools to handle everything across the organization in one interconnected hub. Cariina creates a customized program for every organization it works with that is tailored to meet their specific needs. The platform records, tracks, and organizes processes and all of their data throughout the organization into one system. Some examples of these processes include streamlining internal and external communication, tracking all student data and progress (from behavioral to assessments and everything in between), measuring student outcomes, tracking employee performance evaluations, and employee professional development training just to name a few. MC² has built a model grounded in community, family partnerships, and authentic, project-based learning that prepares students for college, career, and community life. Their commitment to real-world learning experiences reflects the very best of what charter schools can offer. We celebrate their first decade of impact and look forward to the next!

Congratulations to Our New Charter Schools!

We are excited to welcome four new charter schools opening their doors this school year: Granite Valley Prep, NH Career Academy, North Star Academy, and Wellheart Charter School.

• Granite Valley Prep (Keene) – a college preparatory school focused on academic excellence and readiness for higher education.
• NH Career Academy – offers dual enrollment with a NH community college, allowing students to earn a high school diploma alongside an associate degree or industry certificate.
• North Star Academy (Ossipee) – provides a classical education model rooted in timeless traditions of learning.
• Wellheart Charter School (Merrimack) – embraces a Reggio-inspired approach that nurtures creativity, exploration, and student-driven learning.

We congratulate these schools on their openings and wish them a successful and inspiring first year!
