On August 28^th, we spent the afternoon at Cathedral Kitchen, and an avid local reader named Frank Brown picked up a copy of Jeannette Walls’ The Glass Castle.

Last week, Frank returned with a full report of his thoughts on the memoir, including reflections like, “Although people may not have anger towards their parents’ decisions, if they take the time to think of not just the bad but the good, they may also realize that their parents did do the best they could with what they were taught. And forgiveness will follow, along with self-healing.”

Our founder Tom Martin kicked off the school year with a Pop Up Library at Forest Hill Elementary, where he was captured on film by local photographer & mosaic artist Sharon Ritz. Here’s hoping for a great school year for all the kids in Camden! We’re excited as always to keep fostering a love of reading in kids & adults alike.

In other news, we welcomed a new addition to our team. Our social media manager, Amy Saul-Zerby, is a Camden-based writer and a longtime friend and neighbor of Rocky (and Bongo) Wilson. Amy is thrilled to be joining the team, and especially appreciates the opportunity to get more involved in the local community after seven years of living in Camden.
