A Record-Breaking Year Without Losing Our Edge

The Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Chi is making history. Last academic year, we welcomed one of the largest pledge classes ever, bringing the number of actives to just over 200, and we expect a similar success this year. This is a clear testament to the chapter’s strong reputation for brotherhood, leadership, and creating the lifelong bonds of Alpha Upsilon Sigma Chis.

But while the chapter's popularity continues to soar, they remain true to our principles of selective, values-driven membership. Every new brother goes through a rigorous recruitment process designed to ensure that those who join embody the four pillars of friendship, justice, leadership, and learning that have defined our fraternity since 1889.

This balance of growth and exclusivity is no accident. It’s the result of dedicated actives, involved alumni, and a culture that refuses to compromise on what it means to be a Sigma Chi at USC. The result? A chapter that is stronger than ever, built not on numbers alone, but on the enduring quality of its history of campus leadership, alumni success, and an enduring brotherhood.

Dodgers Legend and Sigma Chi Alum Wes Parker, '62 Still Playing to Win

At 85, Alpha Upsilon alum, Maurice “Wes” Parker III is best known as the talented Dodgers first baseman who walked away from Major League Baseball at just 33 years old and after six Gold Gloves, but his story didn’t end there.

Since retiring, Parker has thrived as a broadcaster, actor, teacher, volunteer, philanthropist, bridge player, golfer, and arts enthusiast. From teaching visually impaired students at the Braille Institute to winning another Gold Glove in Japan to earning an Oscar vote as a dedicated film buff, Parker has lived a vibrant, varied life beyond baseball.

A humble and talented man, he never looked back, never regretted leaving the game early, Wes is proof that life after fame can be as remarkable as the fame itself. Click below to read more about Wes' incredible accomplishments.
