Welcome Back!

Back to School- Back to Health

We’re excited to kick off another year filled with fun, health, and learning. Thank you for the important role you play in supporting wellness in our schools. We look forward to working together to create a healthy, thriving year for students and staff.

Welcome, Melissa Lozano!

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Healthy Schools Coordinator. In this role, I will also be supporting schools with the Sources of Strength program.

With 22 years of experience as an educator, I bring a diverse background that includes being a personal trainer and a Healthy Schools liaison. I have utilized movement in the classroom and have had the privilege of being a model classroom for Jeffco.

I see this new opportunity as a commitment to supporting our teachers and classrooms in implementing Healthy Schools initiatives. I look forward to collaborating with all of you to foster a healthier environment for our students!

Active Blacktops

Playground stencils are a simple, creative way to turn your playground into an engaging area that encourages movement and sparks imagination. By adding color and play, stencils help make recess and outdoor time more active, inclusive, and fun for all students. We encourage you to paint your blacktops in the Fall when the weather is more predictable.

Heart & Sole for Middle School Girls

This middle school program is designed to meet the unique needs of 6th-8th grade girls of all abilities. The program considers the whole person – body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection. Heart & Sole offers an inclusive place of belonging, where participants feel supported and inspired to explore their emotions, cultivate empathy and strengthen their physical and emotional health. At the end of the season, all team members complete a 5K. This is the middle school version of Girls on the Run.

Healthy Schools has funding to bring the Heart & Sole program to your school. If your school is interested in participating, reach out to Kristina Kain to learn more.
