Back to School Focus on Safety
As a NAEYC Accredited and Keystone STARS 4 STAR program, the health and safety of our children, families and staff are our primary concern, especially now during the pandemic. DCDC reopened in June with lots of precautions in place, while also making sure that the children's social and emotional needs were being met as they returned to the center after 11 weeks at home.
DCDC has implemented a full pandemic policy for operational procedures and also has a condensed Family Version which is available on our website
All staff and children are following the DHS's mandate to be masked and our kiddos are rocking the masks! We have been so impressed by their willingness to mask up and are very appreciative of our families for their support. Our Toddler Teachers have been great at assisting our youngest two's to learn how to put on their mask and encouraging them to keep it on.
Other precautions DCDC has taken is not allowing folks into the child care area, including parents. We now have "runners" who escort the children to their classrooms, after their health screening at drop off and escort them to their parents at pick up.
In program, children each have their own supply of basic art materials and any shared items are disinfected routinely throughout the day. Children are also having meals and snacks in their classrooms to allow for more social distancing for mealtimes, as opposed to all being in the cafeteria at the same time.
Families have been wonderfully understanding and supportive of DCDC during our reopening and the past several months. We are truly grateful to have such support as we work our way through this new reality.
