Welcome Back!
Hello Lyon Families!

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year.  With such busy schedules, our goal is to give you all the information you need to start the school year off right!

Mrs. Gove and I are ready for an exciting year. Staff are gearing up for August 14th by attending trainings, participating in professional development, and updating their classrooms.  We are especially looking forward to our continuation of The Leader In Me.  Our year one roll out of this initiative was a huge success.  Lyon worked on processes and structures to ensure we built a strong foundation for the 7 Habits.

This year our focus will be on student leadership and working to increase leadership capacity amongst 100% of Lyon students.  Continue to watch for additional information that will assist in helping grow and develop lifelong leaders and learners!

We know this year is going to be great.  We can't wait to get started.

See you soon!

Items to Print and Return on August 9th:
(see descriptions below)

2018-2019 Kindergarten families have already completed the Procedure and Policy Acknowledgement Page and Student Health Inventory forms and will not need to return them to school.
Important Beginning of the Year Documents

Below is the purpose of each of the above documents:

1. Procedure and Policy Acknowledgement Page
Signatures on this form identify students and families have read, understand and acknowledge the student handbook as well as the Board of Education policies our district operates under. Specifically, these forms serve as an agreement for students and parents to follow the technology usage agreement. Students will not be allowed to use school technology resources until a Policy and Procedure Acknowledgement form has been signed and submitted to the district. Please use the above link to print and complete prior to open house; we will have copies available on site. If you are unable to attend open house, please print a copy and bring it on the first day of school.
If your child is too young to sign, please place student initials in the "student signature" area.

2. Student Health Inventory Form
Please take time to complete this important information regarding your child's health and how we can support him or her at Lyon. Don't forget that all vaccinations must be up to date and on file with the school nurse.  Email Nurse Lisa with any questions.

3. Free and Reduced Lunch Application
This allows us to secure all possible resources for our school. We ask all families complete the above form even if there is no plan to use the benefit.

We ask lunch payments be sent in one week ahead, ensuring lunch balances remain in the positive.   All lunch money will need to be placed in an envelope with child's name, child's teacher, and amount on the outside of the envelope.  All students with a negative lunch balance greater than $20.00 will receive a "Tiger Lunch" consisting of peanut butter and jelly.
FYIs on School Bus, Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

1. Doors open at 8:10 a.m. Please refer to the Traffic Flow Map  or visit Lyon's website under "Resources" for drop-off and pick-up procedures. Due to safety and supervision, please refrain from dropping prior to 8:10 a.m.   After 8:00 a.m., parents are welcome to park in Lyon's front parking lot and walk students to Lyon's front doors.

2. Students may be picked up at the end of the day from the main car line located at the back of Lyon. Please plan ahead as no pick-up changes can be made after 3:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. Fridays) and no child may be picked up in the office after 3:15 p.m (2:15 p.m. on Fridays). If you utilize the main car line for pick-up, please place the car tag you receive at Open House on the dash or rearview mirror of your vehicle each day.  Do not get out of your vehicle, as this slows down the process and causes unnecessary congestion.  In order to decrease congestion, please do not line up prior to 3:15 p.m. Monday-Thursday and prior to 2:15 p.m. on Fridays. We will dismiss students at 3:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. It is our goal to connect students with families within 13-15 minutes.

3. Riding a bus? A letter from the Transportation Department will be sent to families via email and mailed the first week in August identifying bus number along with pick-up and drop-off times. Questions regarding transportation can be directed to 732-3680.
