Middle School News
"Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity. Don't fight them. Just find a new way to stand." O. Winfrey
Dear Middle School Families,

The anticipation and excitement around getting back to school has been palpable among the staff during our In-Service training days. This will certainly be a start to school none of us will forget! In an effort to keep families connected to what is happening within the school, I plan to include pictures from life at Roycemore as frequently as possible in these weekly Sunday morning newsletters. We hope your children are as excited as we are to return to school.
Monday, August 24 ~ MS ORIENTATIONS

We welcome all fifth grade students and all students brand new to Roycemore School to attend our On-Campus event from 10:30 am - Noon. Please drop your child off at the gym entry and pick them up at noon in the main entrance parking area.

Off-Campus students will attend a Zoom orientation with our Off-Campus Learning Coordinator, Mr. Ron Tain at 1:00 pm.

WEEK ONE MODIFIED PLANS ~ Aug. 25-28

Group 1 Student (Top half of the alphabet) will attend school on Tuesday 8/25 and Friday 8/28.

Group 2 Students (Bottom half of the alphabet) will attend school on Wednesday 8/26 and Thursday 8/27.

Getting Set for Success ~
Students may bring their important supplies: camping chair, water bottle, headphones, supply of masks, individual hand sanitizer, notebooks, binders, paper, and pencils with them to orientation and/or during their Week 1 days. We will be setting aside plenty of time for students to organizer their lockers, and learn, practice, and review the important health & safety protocols and procedure we've put in place while also getting connected, building community, setting goals for the year, and having plenty of fun!

Roycemore School's expectation of mask wearing, social distancing, daily health attestation and frequent hand washing is not a matter of personal choice but one of collective opportunity for us all.

CHROMEBOOKS ~
Off- Campus Learners - Parents may come to the school between 2 pm - 4 pm to pick up your child's Chromebook. If that time does not work for your schedule, please contact Beth Shutters eshutters@roycemoreschool.org to set up a time to get your child's Chromebook.

On-Campus Learners ~ Mrs. Shutters will be distributing Chromebooks to students during the first week of school.

  • IMPORTANT: Please review the Middle School Chromebook policies with your child. Families were asked to agree to this document as part of the 20-21 enrollment process.
  • IMPORTANT: If you are planning or considering having your child bring his/her own laptop computer to school (BYOD) rather than utilizing our 1:1 Chromebook program, please indicate so on this Google Form
  • IMPORTANT:We learned a great deal during the Spring about how students, parents, and Roycemore teachers and administrators can work together to best support our Off-Campus/Remote learners. We've documented a process of support in this contact. Please review as a family and sign and return. Middle School Off-Campus / Remote Learning Contract 20/21

Hours of School & Morning Information ~

Middle School officially begins at 8:20 and ends at 3:30, except on Thursday, when it ends at 2:00. The building will be accessible to students daily from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. For the safety of the students, please do not have students arrive at school prior to 7:30, as they will unsupervised and unable to enter the building.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please complete the SWS screener (linked below) for your child each morning prior to arriving to campus. Upon arrival, we will scan your child's QR code to confirm your morning attestation followed by a temperature check before permitting your child into the Morning Zone area.
