All students are expected to attend school daily. Our attendance goal for each student is 90% or higher. If your student must be absent, please follow the daily absence reporting procedures below:
- Parents should notify the attendance office each day a student is absent. Students who are not excused from school by parents may be considered truant. If the parent/guardian is unable to contact the office, the student should bring a dated, written note signed by a parent/guardian giving the reason for the absence upon return to school.
- If the parent, for some reason, fails to notify school, the school will contact the parent.
- Students who return to school without a parent’s excuse may be considered truant until the parent can be contacted to verify the absence.
- All absences, including those approved in advance by parents or school officials, except those for school-sponsored activities, will count against a student’s attendance percentage. The student should be careful in the use of absences because excessive absences may affect a student’s class participation grade and/or academic performance.
- The school encourages doctor and dental appointments, after school hours, whenever possible, to reduce the number of classes missed for medical reasons.
- Students who leave school during the school day without prior parental consent and without checking out through the appropriate attendance office WILL be considered truant. Students must have parental consent and check out of school through the attendance office to be properly excused.

Cell Phone & Electronic Device Expectations | |
Electronic devices including but not limited to cell phones, tablets, music players, headphones, and personal computers may not be used at any point during class time. All such devices must be silenced and cannot be taken out or used during class time. Devices may ONLY be used with the explicit, verbal permission of the teacher given to an individual student or if a teacher gives permission using the classroom green/red flip chart.
If the teacher sees any electronic device in use during class time, they will give one verbal warning to put the device away. If the device is not immediately put away or is taken out at a later time during class the student will be required to place their device in “cell phone jail” until the end of class.* Refusal to comply will result in students receiving a referral for defiance.
Repeated misuse of electronic devices during class time will be documented in an individual behavior management plan wherein the full scope and sequence of Parkview’s disciplinary policy will be applied.

A NEW APPROACH TO OUR LUNCH PERIOD FOR PARKVIEW STUDENTS

Students will have 30 minutes designated for lunch and then, depending on each student’s individual learning needs, the other 30 minutes will be allocated for either required study time with teacher assistance and interventions or social time.
