SA-BackToSchoolEPT 10: See You at Back to School Night Tonight!
Please report directly to your child's classroom at the appropriate time:
Kinder-2nd grades: 5:30-6:15pm
3rd-5th grades: 6:15-7:00pm

While this is not a mandatory event, we highly recommend that an adult representative of every Miraloma student be present.

This is a great opportunity for you to come and visit your children's classroom, meet his/her teacher, and find out valuable information about grade level curriculum and classroom specific topics. It is also a wonderful chance for you to become familiarized with your child(ren)'s daily schedule and routine, get to know the teacher's expectations for the school year, and meet other parents in the same class.

Childcare
Childcare during this night is challenging due to space and time issues. Please arrange child care at home if possible.

DROP OFF:
  • If your child is in YMCA or MEEP, leave your children in their after school program.
  • If your child is not in YMCA or MEEP, drop them off in the auditorium.

PICK UP:

  • All kids can be picked up in the auditorium.

Thank you in advance for taking an active role in your student's education at Miraloma Elementary School.

REB-EarlyReleaseMINDER: Early Release Day Tomorrow
School is out at 11:20am on Thursday September 11, but students will still have lunch at school.

Please help us make this day a success by planning ahead for early pick-up, if possible. All after school programs will begin at 11:20 on early release day. If you are not able to pick up your child early and the drop-in fee for MEEP is not an option for you, please contact Mr. Bass.

FYI: The system of monthly early release days benefits all staff and students with less sub-time AND saves the school $20,000/year. Read more...
FUC-FunRunSponsorsNDRAISING: Be a FUN RUN Sponsor

Promote your Business, Support our School and the Annual Fun RUN!

The RUN is a fantastic opportunity to promote your business to our school community. RUN Sponsors get a lot of visibility and shout outs. See your name/logo on RUN banners (so everyone that tours Miraloma can see!), event signage, and our keepsake t-shirt!

D-AnnualFundFUNDRAISING: Have You Contributed to the Annual Fund?
You should have received our Annual Fund letter by email. This is one of the most important ways you can help our school offer the programs that makes it so great - the money goes directly to the school, is 100% tax deductible, and requires minimal volunteer hours. Our goal is 100% participation!

E-SSCNomsSEPT 12: Submit Nominations for SSC 2014-2016
The School Site Council (SSC) is conducting elections for new parent members. Elected members serve a two-year term. The SSC meets once a month to advise the principal on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the school's overall improvement plan and school budget.

It is important to involve individuals, who are most affected by our school's operations, in the decision-making process. If you are interested in joining the SSC, please submit this online application by September 12.
O-SchoolPicsSEPT 15School Picture Day is Monday, Sept 15th

You remember touring those schools (ugh) and how helpful it was to talk to real live parents. Sign up today to pay it forward by helping out with one or more tours this year. VG-SnackProgramOLUNTEER: Help with our Healthy Snack Program
The Snack Committee provides fresh fruits and vegetables to each classroom daily, so our kids have a healthy snack in between breakfast and lunch. We need parent volunteers weekly on:
  • Mon/Wed at 8am in the garden to help prep produce for the classrooms. Time commitment: 15-45 mins (or anything you can give!)
Wed/Thu after school to pick up snack bins from classrooms and clean them out. Time commitment: 20-30 mins. Would need to commit to 1 day/week.

H-LibraryShelfVOLUNTEER: Adopt a Library Shelf
The Library needs book lovers to re-shelve, reorder, and pull books that need cleaning and repair (about 10 minutes per week). Sign up now to claim your favorite section! Email me or sign up on the sheet posted by the library door.

RK-LicePolicyEMINDER: Lice Policy at Miraloma
Please check regularly for lice!
We expect each child to be checked at home regularly by their parents/guardians. The Room Parents are responsible to arrange parent volunteers to check for lice in their class on a monthly basis.

When lice or nits are found on a child:
  • Report to [email protected], your teacher and our school secretary: [email protected] immediately.
  • Room Parent or teacher should inform the class AND grade by email.
  • Parents/guardians will receive a call from school and treatment should begin the same day. If live lice are found, then parents will be asked to arrange to pick up their child from school right away.
We encourage parents to be sensitive when talking about it to/in front of their kids. We do not want the child to feel badly around their peers nor to be ostracized. [Read more on our website]
