Dear NYC Principals and Administrators,
Please see below for some back-to-school updates and reminders from the NYC DOE’s Office of Nonpublic Schools.
NPSIS
Nonpublic Student Information System (“NPSIS”) has opened for the 2023-2024 school year:
-
Login: When you login, please ensure the information listed on your school info page is accurate.
-
Points of Contact: Ensure that your primary and secondary points of contact are designated and that they have NPSIS access.
-
Date of Birth: You will be asked to enter the person’s date of birth. Once entered, this information will not appear for anyone to see. (Note: This information is needed for the NYC Public Schools to create an external user account, which will provide you, your primary, and secondary contact access to portals such as the Office of Pupil Transportation (“OPT”) and NPSIS in September 2023 for the new school year).
School-Based Assessment (“SBA”)
- Schools using SBA to nominate students for Title I or Title III services must have scores ranging from 64 or lower reflecting student’s academic need.
- Schools should only use SBA if they do not use any of the standardized assessments listed in the instructions. Scores must be entered for all assessments no later than October 31, 2023.
- When nominating students, schools are required to provide documentation on how the score was determined and enter the actual score obtained for each assessment by the student. Schools should not enter the eligibility cut score listed on the educational determination criteria charts. For example, if the student’s assessment score is 57 and the eligibility cut score for the assessment used is 64, the student’s assessment score of 57 must be entered.
Early Childhood Grades
Students nominated in early childhood grades 3K, 4K through 2nd grade will require an assessment form that the teacher completes, signed by the school leader agreeing that the student needs supplemental services. All assessment documentation will be required to be kept onsite and made available upon request by the Office of Nonpublic Schools
Title I and Title III Surveys
Please nominate students needing supplemental academic or language support using the Title I Educational Survey and/or Title III survey. Further information can be found here on the alerts and announcements page. Training manuals for all aspects of NPSIS can be found here.
See below for the Title I and Title III surveys, including the Title I Educational Survey General Instructions and Title III Survey General Instructions.
