This update is a coordinated effort by Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) and Wisconsin Music Educators Association (WMEA) to share timely news items that are relevant to both memberships while at the same time helping to limit the number of individual emails sent from each organization.

COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Information for Fall 2021

Wisconsin School Music Association and Wisconsin Music Educators Association endorse the use of guidance from our respective national organizations as you plan for your return to the classroom:
National association guidelines will be updated as conditions change or more research becomes available. These guidelines are meant to be used in conjunction with your local and tribal health department guidance. Since there are many variations across Wisconsin, it is important to know and understand what requirements are in place for your area of the state.

The Delta variant is still prevalent in Wisconsin, and caution will need to be taken this fall. Mitigation strategies such as masking, bell covers, social distancing, short rehearsal times, and increased ventilation should be considered as you plan instruction.

WSMA Member School Enrollment

This is a reminder that WSMA membership enrollment is now open at the new account portal. We encourage schools to enroll now to secure discounted dues rates and access important resources.  When ready, log in to your account to renew your school's membership. As in previous years, only one individual should take care of each school membership -- we recommend coordinating with your colleagues if it's unclear who will act.

This week we mailed enrollment information via U.S. Mail or you may follow the link above to get started. Not sure how to navigate renewal in our new system? Watch:  "How to Renew a WSMA Membership"

WSMA Annual Meeting - For Member School Music Educators and Administrators

This event will allow time for questions and dialogue with WSMA team members, and it will be recorded for future reference.

Support to WSMA Member Schools

As we prepare to serve our WSMA member schools for 2021-22, a school year that may again cause shifts and changes to instructional models, it is important that school administrators and educators know they should feel comfortable reaching out to our team to discuss any needs related to programming, services or mitigation. If your school team would like to schedule a time to consult regarding your district music education plan, please contact Laurie Fellenz, Executive Director (

Early Career Music Teacher Collaboration Project

The Early Career Music Teacher Collaboration (ECMTC) Project is starting up again!
ECMTC Project is the mentoring program with the mission of helping early career music educators acclimate to their classrooms and build a professional network in the state of Wisconsin. Both early career teachers and veteran teachers gain mutual benefits of sharing ideas in the ECMTC Project. This year, we will meet 4 - 5 times at various points during the academic year. We will also work to provide more opportunities to gather regionally and hopefully in-person. Please click one of the links below to fill out the appropriate registration form:

For those that participated last year, please fill out a registration form to confirm your participation this academic year.
We hope to see returning and new faces as we begin the 2021-22 school year. If you know there is a new music educator in your building or in a nearby school district, please feel free to share this information with them. All are welcome!
