EmPoWER Somerset's News, Events & Happenings

September 2023

Welcome Back to School

EmPoWER is excited to once again implement social and emotional learning (SEL) and prevention programs for students and school staff across the state. Through support, care, and education we aim to improve the lives of youth across NJ. Have a happy and healthy school year!

Teen Speak at Coastal FSC

EmPoWER facilitated Teen Speak in August at Coastal Communities Family Success Center in Long Branch. Betzy and Jennifer provided the program in Spanish to 18 parents. Teen Speak equips parents and caregivers with the tools to safeguard, foster connections, and cultivate trust with their teenagers. We look forward to working with more parents and caregivers this school year!

Pioneer FSC Hosts Outdoor Movie Night

Pioneer families had a great time watching Encanto while snacking on popcorn, chips and cookies at the August Family Fun Night! Families enjoyed the beautiful sunset. We look forward to seeing you at the campfire event in September. Click below for more Pioneer FSC events.

Overdose Awareness Event at the Ballpark

EmPoWER joined Operation Helping Hand (OHH) for the 3rd Annual Opioid Overdose Awareness Day event at TD Bank Ballpark, home of the Somerset Patriots. The event honored those in recovery and lives lost to addiction. OHH is a program where law enforcement plays an integral part in identifying individuals with substance use disorders and together with community partners serves as a point of entry into treatment and/or recovery support services.
