August 2017
That's a Wrap
Goodbye Summer and welcome new school year.  It seemed like a very short summer.  Now it is time to get our kids back into the normal routine of getting to bed early and getting up early.  In this newsletter we list out events that will be taking place this weekend in case your child still needs supplies and some other helpful back to school resources. We wish you and your children a very happy last week of summer!
Community Events for School Supplies
The financial strain of back to school shopping can be overwhelming.  There is still time for you to attend local community events for back to school.

Keeping Children Safe From Bully's
Bullying can happen to a child at anytime. Children may not want to talk about what is going on. Encourage your child to know that they can come to you with anything.   It is important to know that if your child is being bullied you have a voice. If your child is enrolled in the Clark County School District you can contact the schools admin department as they are required to investigate.

Spotlight: Through the Eyes of a Child Foundation
Through the Eyes of a Child Foundation was created by a group of Child Haven volunteers who wanted to make a difference in the life of children who have experienced trauma at its worst.  These activities help children escape the reality that they may be currently facing. Activities may be hosted either on or off site and typically  include a Summer event, Fall Event and a Christmas event. Just recently they sponsored a summer event for families to enjoy a day at the water park Wet n Wild.  It was a great success and we just want to let Through the Eyes of a Child Foundation know we are thankful for all they do.  It takes vision and leadership to put together an organization where there was great need for these children who have been though so much and for that again we say Thank you!

Through the Eyes of A Child Foundation also offers scholarships to help current or former children who lived at Child Haven afford educational and cultural opportunities.
