Today, civic participation occurs at many levels. We make impactful decisions about our community every time we make a purchase, vote, post on social media and, of course, volunteer. We think any awareness we can bring to the many resources that might spur individual action for good, falls right in line with what we’re up to at HandsOn.

Back in School
Your Experience Counts is back! We are excited to have 32 YEC volunteers vaxxed, masked, and ready to be in the classroom.

Last week we held our first YEC training since 2019 and it was full of laughter and excitement to help out teachers. The training focused on helping the volunteers understand the obstacles kiddos face and how the pandemic has made them worse. Volunteers learned about adverse childhood experiences and how as classroom volunteers, they can help mitigate some of the effects.

The volunteers will be supporting classrooms in 16 schools across 4 districts. Education in Arizona needs support now more than ever. We are looking forward to the impact these volunteers will have on students across the Valley!
Nonprofit Partner Highlight
Shining the spotlight on one of our partner organizations, Native American Connections. NAC started as a grassroots community organization in the 1970s and now helps 10,000 families and individuals each year.

Over the 20+ years of partnership we've had with Native American Connections, we've put to work 3,000 volunteers resulting in 6,000 hours served! NAC is home to one of our most popular calendar projects, Chef's Night Off. Picture is a throwback to 2019.
Reading Rocks!
Thank you to American Express for being mavericks with our new HandsOn at Home project, Reading Rocks! We are truly blown away by your creativity.

Reading Rocks! is our newest project and can be done virtually or in person. Volunteers decorate book bags, a book marker, and create a reading challenge card to help inspire young readers. Book bags are complete with two books and will be given to kiddos in shelters and Title I schools.
