What will school look like in a few weeks?
Kids in the classroom? Distance learning or a hybrid set-up? We're faced with some tough decisions. But in the midst of it all, Bridges to Growth and The Georgetown Project continue to seek ways to support families and educators during this challenging time.

This month, we are offering some back-to-school resources for teachers, parents and students to support you no matter what this new school year holds.

Whether you've been teaching at home for years or are new to home teaching, here's a few tips to help you and your children thrive.
Keep a routine. Start at the same time each day. The same goes for snack and lunchtime. Kids feel more secure when the know what to expect.
Take breaks! Learning at home can feel like a perpetual stint of homework. Be sure to allow some free or rest time between projects.
Accept Good Enough. Some days won't go the way you planned. Be sure not to expect perfection and give yourself (and you kids) a little grace.

How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk   By Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish

"Both of these books are really helpful for learning parenting strategies that develop kids’ emotional intelligence. They teach parents how to understand what’s going on behind behaviors they see, and they teach skills to parent in ways that encourage cooperation and growth in children." -Lexy
Committed to Kids Conference
Like most organizations, we've had to change how we deliver some of our resources to the community. The pandemic has made us aware of new needs, but also fresh and creative ways to fulfill our mission. Here's some of the resources we moved online!
Committed to Kids Training Conference
Although we couldn't meet face-to-face for our 18th annual Committed to Kids Training Conference, we still provided top notch teaching to our children's educators online!
Check out what this year's attendees had to say:
  • "Thank you for working so hard to get us these conferences! It is such a challenging time and your efforts to get us quality training is very much appreciated!"

  • " . . . this was an Outstanding training. I will model and help my staff to utilize the techniques! Thanks again!!"

  • "Thank you for providing this Conference during challenging times!!"

  • "I'm really glad that Bridges to Growth continued to have this year's conference, even though it was 100% virtual. I look forward to the conference every year because even after 17 years in education, I still walk away with new information. Thank you!" - Laura Denham
Online Classes
We sure do miss holding in-person classes. But necessity is the mother of invention and our staff have become experts with offering children's activities and child development workshops online!
Here's a few of our upcoming online classes and activities:
Note: Fall Spanish language classes are going virtual. Please see our calendar for more updates.
"Drive Through" Projects
Drive Through - Not Just for Hamburgers!
We've overcome the "in-person" craft demonstration challenge by forming drive-through supply pick-ups and "how-to" videos on our blog, like How to Make a Cake in A Mug and How to Make Bubble Wands !
Check school district sites for back-to-school news.
