"It's September at KLSD again!"
Katonah-Lewisboro schools opened on September 10, 2020 after having been shut down since March 13, 2020. Students in kindergarten and first grade are in school four days a week and students in second through twelfth grade follow a hybrid model, alternating between Zooming into class from home and being in the school buildings. The district is all-remote on Wednesdays.

Amid all of the new routines surrounding the start of this school year, it’s wonderful to see that some things remain the same. Children arrive at school eager to learn. Teachers are full of ideas and connecting with students. There’s laughter in the hallways—and, depending on which ones you're walking through, you might hear storybooks being read; the Bill of Rights being discussed; phrases in French, Spanish, Latin or Mandarin; or students explaining solutions to math problems. It’s September at KLSD again.

I want to express my gratitude to the entire community – students, staff, and families – for the collective commitment that helped us bring students back to school. We look forward to each day with them.

Sincerely,
Andrew Selesnick
Superintendent of Schools
Schoology for families
Have you logged into your Schoology account yet?

All KLSD student devices have links to Schoology. The parent or guardian who is the primary contact has been sent email notification providing access, too. Families are able to monitor course content on Schoology and see school resources such as Curriculum Night presentations. You can find a link to Schoology on the top navigation bar of each school’s website.
This year, there's another reason to love PE
Students love Physical Education because they get to play. This year, there's another reason, too. While outside and more than 12 feet apart, it's a perfect time to take a mask break.

“Our goal is to get students outside and get them moving, as well as create an inviting and safe environment for social interaction,” said Chris McCarthy, the district’s director of health, athletics, physical education and wellness.

Creating space for health and safety
What's new at the middle school? Well, band has been relocated to the cafeteria, chorus is using part of the gymnasium and there are desks in the library, for starters.

These changes are some of the ways that all Katonah-Lewisboro schools are rethinking space and following best practices for health and safety from the New York State Education Department.

National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists!
John Jay High School is extremely pleased and proud to announce that Liliana Carey and Jonathan Frantz are National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists for 2021.

“Their accomplishments are a testament to the high personal standards they have set for themselves and the commitment and perseverance necessary to achieve this level of distinction,” said Principal Steven Siciliano. "Congratulations!
