Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!

Teachers, administrators, and staff are thrilled to be back after a fun summer off.  We are happy to have your students with us this school year, and we look forward to a productive, successful academic year.

If you have questions or concerns this year, do not be afraid to reach out to the administration or teachers for help or information.  That's what we are here for!  Thank you for trusting us with your most precious gift; we take great pride in providing a free, quality public education to every child in our building and look forward to celebrating all their victories with you.

Don't forget to check our website for lots of important information like: school calendar, upcoming events, LOTS of pictures, and information about all our clubs and tutoring.
Say Hello to Our New Super Staff Members
We are pleased to introduce our new teachers and staff members for the 2016-2017 school year.  From left to right:  Ms. L. Taylor (computers/building sub), Ms. Nixon (reading enrichment/building sub), Ms. Anderson (art), Ms. E. Taylor (2b core teacher), and Ms. Monahan (7b ELA; 4/5th social studies)
Say Hello to Our Amazing Administrators

Our administration team looks a lot different this year.  We are happy to have Mr. Akben back at the helm this year as building principal.  However, our other positions have changed.  Assistant principal of school culture (formerly known as Dean of Students) will be Mrs. Gibson.  Although new to our building, Mrs. Gibson has been with our school in Lorain, Ohio for years and is excited to take on this new challenge.  Mr. Cameron and Ms. Jack will remain 8th grade teachers, but they are also tackling the assistant principal of academics position. Every one of us is thrilled to jump into the school year and watch the students grow, mature, and learn!

Dress Down Days
As a special reward this year, students are earning dress down days for positive behavior in the building.  However, even with dress down days, some school rules have to be followed.  Please see the student handbook for a complete list, but here are some things to avoid on dress down days:
  • flip flops/sandals
  • sleeveless shirts
  • bare midriffs
  • ripped, torn, patched jeans
  • see through tops
  • sagged pants
  • inappropriately tight pants/leggings
6th-8th Grade Bowling Trip

The teachers and administration wanted to welcome our students in with more positive "strikes" this fall, so we went to Freeway Lanes in Parma, Ohio, and had some fun after school on Thursday, September the 8th.

We had a wonderful time and look forward to many more trips with the various middle school grades.  The kids will earn bowling trips for positive behavior, academic success, and good citizenship in the building.  Let's cheer our kids on to make great choices this school year!

4th-5th Grades Movie Day

To kick our school year off, the 3rd-5th graders had a special event on Tuesday, September 13th.  They had popcorn, snow cones, and lots of laughs when they had a special movie day in the large cafeteria.
Cross Country Meet

On September 14th, we had our first cross country meet of the season against HSA Lorain.  The students had a great showing, winning the first meet 9-5.  Dawn Wiley took 1st place and Kimora Blevins took 3rd place for the ladies. Jemir Grayson took 2nd place and Makailee Hamilton took 3rd place for the gentlemen.  In our junior division, Tahli Dixon 1st, Jordan Cabera 2nd, and Joynangel Rivera 3rd.
