Hello Tour Participants,
The committee is excited about the registration response for this year’s Tour. Please read on if you’re registered for the Tour but haven’t made your hotel reservations yet. For unknown reasons, hotel reservations historically lag Tour registrations by weeks and even months. We understand plans change and no one wants to be stuck with paying for an unused hotel room. On the other hand, greater than 90% of the suggested hotels allow no fee cancellations right up until a week before the Tour begins. Many provide 24 or 48-hour cancellations with no penalty. Seasoned Tour veterans make their room reservations early to obtain the best selection and pricing.
Past experience has shown hotels in the areas we are visiting tend to fill up rapidly in early summer and projections for this year are higher than normal. A recent news report indicated lodging and campsites are running 40% above average so far this year. A Michigan Special Olympics event is slated in Mt. Pleasant the same week as the Tour stop. A large Soccer Tournament in Petoskey has impacted hotel room capacity during our weekend stay in Boyne City.
As you can see, it is in your best interest to book early to be assured of getting a room. We have been reviewing hotel booking numbers and finding that some hotels are filling up fast and others have rooms available, but the discounted rates may not apply due to demand in certain areas. So please take our advice and book early to enjoy peace of mind knowing you will have a place to stay with fellow Tour participants.
