Latest from the Chairman of the Board

Well, we have had quite a time over the last 2 weeks. I want to shout out a big THANK YOU to our amazing team, who hit it out of the park every single event. They do so many good things to benefit the citizens of Genesee County.

I want to tell you a great story that happened to a friend of mine on his way home from the Main Event last Saturday. He left during one of many rain showers, and on his way home his car just quit on him. Fortunately, his wife was following him in another car. He decided to have her wait in the classic car, and he would take the family car home to pick up his truck and trailer so he could get it back home.

As he was returning to where breakdown occurred, he saw 3 trucks parked by his cruiser. While he was gone, three young guys were driving by in their trucks and saw his cool 1957 Buick Hardtop sitting on the side of the road and stopped to see if they could help.

To say the least, he was thrilled to have them push the car off the road, but also on the trailer. He told me it reminded him of our volunteers that do whatever is necessary to make our events successful. I couldn’t agree more!!! They always deliver.

THANK YOU, AGAIN, TO OUR AMAZING TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS.

I’ll see you down the road,

Thank you,

Al Jones

Ally Challenge Continues to Support!!!

Sending a BIG thank you to the Ally Challenge for their partnership with the Back to the Bricks Organization. Each year they sponsor our Volunteers. They provide the Volunteer Shirts, the very needed supplies, waters and snacks needed to keep our volunteers going! This is a big job. Most of our Volunteers work every day of Tune Up Week and Main Event Week, making 12 days of FUN happen for all.

Sunday, the day after Main Event our Main Event Committee comes BACK to Flint and cleans up the City. This is a yearly tradition that Back to the Bricks does to thank the city for the opportunity to host our HUGE event. Then off to breakfast for the team.

Our Main Event Committee will have a wrap up meeting this coming week at our Partner's location Mario's Pizzeria for a FULL Dinner, and an end of the year thank you party will be given to ALL Volunteers, with prizes and giveaways. A simple thank you is NEVER enough for these hard working volunteers, and the Ally Challenge gets that!

The Ally Challenge is going on NOW. Visit https://theallychallenge.com for more details.

A word for our Vice Chairman of the Board

What a great 20th Anniversary Year of Back to the Bricks®.

With one more Road Rally coming up, we will wrap up this year and continue to plan for next year starting with Chrome & Ice™ the 3-day indoor winter car show.

Save the dates for Chrome & Ice™: Feb 7th – 9th, 2025.

I would like to report on our registration process and talk about what we have planned for the future. As you know, all our registrations are online and when you register you receive a QR code. You will use this same QR code for all our free events. Paid events like Chrome & Ice™ and some Road Rallies will have a different QR code to help us track who's paid. We value your information and will never share it with anyone. This is the information we use internally for economic impact numbers, demographics, and ordering of merchandise. Using the QR system this year we gave away over 2,800 T-shirts through our texting system, which was brought to our organization to make our free t-shirt process fair for all.

As I've said before, Back to the Brick® is committed to growing and expanding our events to be more diversified, offering more experiences everyone can enjoy, and most of all, being fun and fair. We know that we have a solid base of car enthusiasts and many retirees who have time to attend our events early. But we are excited to be GROWING, and expanding to even more hard-working folks that would also love the same opportunities to win prizes.

I want to again thank you all, but also to our sponsors and partners, our Volunteers and Committee for a job well done. It takes a village to put on these events and every single person makes a difference.

Thank you,

Ralph Messer
