This weekend at Skokie's Backlot Bash

Skokie's Backlot Bash 2020 would have been celebrated downtown this weekend; however, due to the pandemic, fans will have to settle for some great news regarding 'Backlot 2021,' as well as a suggestion for getting your music fix this weekend.

Live Music Tomorrow
The Bash regularly partners with Lincoln Square's Old Town School of Folk Music to book many of its daytime acts. Tomorrow night, live from the Old Town stage, the Square Roots Festival lineup will be livestreamed, and we invite you to see it here!

2021 Headliners Announced
The feedback was sensational for the headliners booked for 2020, so we decided to simply invite them back in 2021. And the good news is, they all accepted!

Saturday, August 28, 2021

Coranavirus willing, we expect to return to our regular lineup of fun in 2021, including a large carnival midway, the Backlot Dash 5K Run, a children's stage, kid's activities, classic films, a classic car show, bingo, exhibits at the Skokie Heritage Museum, a Sunday Rotary pancake breakfast, a farmer's market, and much more.

Klehm Park dedicated on Women's Equality Day

Dr. Amelia Louise Klehm Park was dedicated Wednesday, with her cousin Eileen Harms Faut in attendance, cutting the ribbon and showing other attendees a family scrapbook containing photos of Dr. Klehm.

Dr. Klehm was Skokie's first female doctor, serving for three decades in the early 1900s. She delivered Ms. Faut's father at Swedish Covenant Hospital in 1920.

The dedication was held on the 100th Anniversary of women gaining the right to vote. Klehm Park is located at the southeast corner of Oakton Street and Lorel Avenue in Skokie.
