Support the Backpack Drive
These are just some of the children who receive our backpacks through North County Lifeline. They participate in the Club Crown Heights, an after school program in Oceanside that serves low-income kids at high risk
of gang involvement and violence. The program offers tutoring, mentoring, fun activities, and a safe place
to hang out. Our Backpack Drive begins this Sunday - look for the Service Ministry table after services in the courtyard.

|Back to School Backpacks
Collections begin this Sunday
Summer has barely arrived, but it's already time to begin our annual backpack drive. Service Ministry members will be accepting donations starting this Sunday June 30 through July 21 at a table in the courtyard after services.
As with most things, there are economies of scale. We've found our dollars can go much farther when we purchase pre-packed backpacks from a company called Blusource. Middle and high school packs will run about $25, elementary $15. This year there is an increased need for more costly packs for middle and high school students vs. elementary.
If you still wish to purchase a backpack yourself and fill it with supplies, there will be lists available at the Service Ministry table. Backpacks will be blessed on Rev. Anne's last Sunday, July 28.
|Seating of Our Fifth Bishop
Sunday, June 30 @ 5:00 p.m.
Bishop Susan Brown Snook will knock on the doors of St. Paul's, our cathedral, and be seated as our fifth bishop. This historic event is a rich part of our Anglican heritage. All are welcome.
Celebrate Independence Day
Christ Church - Sunday, July 7

Active duty/retired members of the military services are invited to attend in uniform. Everyone else, wear your best red, white, and blue!
|Book Sale Bonanza
Right here at Christ Church
Parishioner Kathryn Bunch will bring her traveling book ministry, K-B Books, to Christ Church Sunday, July 7.
A member of the Episcopal Booksellers Association, Kathryn has extensive knowledge and a wonderful inventory of religious and inspirational books - fiction, non-fiction, Bibles, prayer books, and more. You'll be delighted to peruse her display and will surely find something you love. If you have a special request, she needs to order for you, contact her directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pride San Diego
Fearless Love - No Exceptions
Mark your calendar - come be a part of the diocesan contingent at the San Diego Pride parade, Saturday, July 13. Our Episcopal presence has increased year after year and sends a wonderful message to the community that "all are welcome at the Episcopal Church." Young and not so young, clergy and laity, men, women and children of the Episcopal church march the parade route together; and if you can't walk the route, there is a trolley you can ride. Groups from parishes across the diocese will once again march together behind the diocesan banner of "Fearless Love" to show that God Loves you...no exceptions. Join the Christ Church contingent - contact Charlette Preslar if you're coming; she may help with carpools.
|Getting to Know Her
The Bishop's Visit
This is your chance to meet our newly consecrated bishop, The Rt. Rev. Susan Brown Snook. She will celebrate and preach at both the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services Sunday, July 21, 2019. She also looks forward to joining the parish at the 9:00 a.m. forum in Hinde Hall. Read more...
Sunday, July 21, 2019
After both services you will have the opportunity to purchase handmade crafts from the Holy Land. Bethlehem Handcrafts works directly with olive wood carvers, and imports their work to the U.S. giving these carvers the ability to continue to live and work in Bethlehem.
Each one of these works of art is made from the reclaimed trimmings of the Holy Land olive trees. Pruning and trimming olive trees is an essential process for the health and proper growth of the trees. No trees are damaged in the process of making these pieces, but rather we are making good use of what would otherwise be wasted.

|Books for Head Start
Our Lenten projects
The Christ Church Day School book drive, led by the 6th grade class during Lent, was a resounding success, as you can see by the smiling faces as the books arrived this week! The donations collected by the parish will be used by the Head Start teachers to buy even more books for their classrooms. Well done Christ Church and Christ Church DaySchool! #bridgingloveandservice
Send us your photos
If you're lucky enough to travel this summer, you're bound to find an Episcopal church nearby. We'd love to share in your travel adventures by seeing a photo of you and the family at Episcopal churches throughout the nation. Just snap a pic and email it to Christ Church. We'll feature you in the weekly eCommunicator.
|Welcome to Christ Church
The Welcome Center
Many folks visit us here in the summer months. You could be the smiling face that greets visitors at the Welcome Center. Be the contact point for those visiting or new to Christ Church - offer a hardy hello, an answer to a question, or hand out a welcome bag. If you'd like to join this important ministry as a Welcome Center volunteer, you may sign up at the Welcome Center to schedule a date you can staff the station. During the summer months, when there is only one service, you'd come 20 minutes before the service and stay about 20 minutes after.

Parishioners please take note
Summer is here, town is busier than ever and parking for church can be tricky. Please note that we no longer have a reciprocal parking arrangement with Walgreens. We encourage you to find parking elsewhere or pay for the time you are in their lot or risk receiving a citation.
