NEW YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING

The Boy Scouts of America has released an updated Youth Protection training as of Jan 31, 2018. All current volunteers will be required to take the new youth protection training by October 1, 2018 on my.scouting.org.

All new adult volunteers will begin taking the new youth protection training immediately.

Family Program Update
Effective August 1 st, 2018, the Baden-Powell Council will begin registering girls in Cub Scout Packs participating in Family Programing for the 2018-2019 Program year. Our staff is in the process of meeting with Chartered Organizations to determine their individual needs and wishes for their Pack’s program. If your Chartered Organization, or Pack leadership, has not yet had a conversation with your District Executive regarding whether you would like to become a Family Pack or remain a “Boy only” pack, please reach out to them at (607)648-7888 or by email at [email protected] (Broome, Tioga & Susquehanna counties) or [email protected] (Chenango, Cortland & Tompkins Counties).

Cub Scout Associate Wanted!
 
Are you looking for a career focused on changing the lives of young people? The Baden-Powell Council is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to fill the Cub Scout Associate position serving Broome, Susquehanna and Tioga Counties help to grow Cub Scouting and support Cub Scout Packs.
 
The Cub Scout Associate provides support to Cub Scout Packs by:
-Providing guidance in best practices for running a Cub Scout Pack.
-Assisting Packs in creating annual calendars, budgets and unit leader selection plans.
-Promoting training opportunities for Cub Scout Leaders.
-Working with Packs to follow the Council Membership Plan to offer Scouting to more young people.
-Promoting Cub Adventure Weekends, Day Camp and Summer Resident Camp as well as working with 3 Day Camps during the summer.
-Ensure Units can fund their program by assisting them with popcorn sales as well as helping coordinating Family Friends of Scouting Presentations.
 
Cub Scout Associate is a full-time position with the benefits with competitive compensation and benefits offered. Bachelor’s Degree or comparable life experience is required. To apply, please send a cover letter and resume to Frankie Sears at [email protected].

The Merit badge list has been updated. All Counselors please go check the list to make sure that your name is on the list and that it has the right Merit Badges beside your name. If there is a problem such as your name is not on the list, please contact Joshua Hanes by email at [email protected].
 
If you have not renewed for 2018 yet you will need to complete the Adult Application, YPT, Merit Badge Counselor Application again to be placed back on the list.
 
All new merit badge counselors must fill out an adult application for being a Merit Badge Counselor, take youth protection, and fill out the Merit Badge Counselor application. Once all of this has been done and turned in, it will be approved, denied, or marked pending upon further information at our monthly committee meetings.

2019 World Jamboree

The World Scout Jamboree is the largest camping event organized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), gathering as many as 50,000 Scouts and leaders from 169 National Scout Organizations. The 24th
World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is co‐hosted by Scouts Canada, Association de Scouts de Mexico and the Boy Scouts of America.
