As the Directors of Curriculum and Instruction, we are pleased to announce that Lake Geneva Schools will recognize outstanding teachers and staff members for their exceptional work and dedication to our students. Five individuals who have significantly impacted their students and colleagues will be honored at our annual staff banquet in May. The award categories are:

  1. Teacher of the Year - Lake Geneva Joint #1 School District
  2. Teacher of the Year - Lake Geneva - Genoa City Union (Badger) High School District
  3. Special Services Teacher of the Year - Special Services Teachers are those who serve in a capacity other than that of a classroom teacher. Special services roles can include, but are not limited to, special education, interventionist, speech-language pathologist, school counselor, school psychologist, school nurse, and school social worker.
  4. Support Staff of the Year - Lake Geneva Joint #1 School District
  5. Support Staff of the Year - Lake Geneva - Genoa City Union (Badger) High School District

To nominate a person, please complete this online nomination form and explain why you believe they deserve recognition. Your statement should highlight specific examples of the person's outstanding work, including their impact on student learning and engagement, their contributions to the school community, and their commitment to ongoing professional development.

We encourage you to nominate a deserving individual for this important recognition. Our schools are filled with talented educators who work tirelessly to support our students, and this award is a way for us to express our appreciation. Nominations should be submitted by Friday, March 6th, 2026.

Sincerely,

Chiper and Erin

Directors of Curriculum and Instruction

May 9 is Prom!

Prom Attendees and Guardians:

Junior prom is just around the corner! This year’s prom, “Vintage Hollywood,” will be held at Grand Geneva Resort in the Grand Ballroom on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Prior to the dance, we will host a grand march and crown the prom king and queen in the Badger High School auditorium for parents, friends, and family. Students will be required to ride a bus from Badger to the Grand Geneva. This is a parking and safety precaution; therefore, students will not be permitted to drive themselves to Grand Geneva. Students must park their vehicles in the student lot by district office. Check-in, for prom attendees, will begin at 5:30 at Badger. The grand march will begin at 5:45; you must be checked in at Badger by 6:00. A formal dinner and dance will take place in the Forum at Grand Geneva from 7:00-11:00. Bus transportation back to Badger will be provided starting at 9:30 p.m.

Prom tickets will be sold April 20-April 24. The cost of each ticket is $80 per person. Permission slips needed at time of purchase.Students and guests from other schools must submit a signed permission slip in order to purchase a ticket(s). Tickets will only be sold to Badger junior and senior students. Guests from other schools are welcome if they are at least a junior, but not more than one year post high school (cannot exceed 19 years of age).  Sophomores will be permitted to attend prom as a guest of a junior or senior. Freshmen are not permitted to attend. No exceptions will be made. This is a special event, and in some sense, a right of passage for our upperclassmen.

Students are able to select the table where they will eat dinner. If they would like to sit with friends, they are encouraged to purchase tickets at the same time. This takes coordination as seats will not be held/reserved. There are ten seats at each table.

Finally, students’ safety is our number one priority; administration and police personnel will be on site to provide security and administer random breathalyzer tests to students upon their arrival at Badger High School and/or The Grand Geneva. Please take a moment to speak with your students about the dangers of underage drinking and the importance of appropriate behavior at this formal event. If you have any questions about prom, please contact one of the junior class advisors listed below.

Thank you!

Amy Phillips… 348-2000 ext. 2611

Academic Bowl Update

Congratulations Badger Academic Bowl Team

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Badger Academic Bowl team participated in the Southern Lakes Conference Academic Bowl championship at Elkhorn. This competition includes a set of timed written test questions and an oral quiz component in each of the four core areas: science, social studies, mathematics, and language arts, and adds a current events category for the oral event. The entire Badger team performed admirably. We had two medal winners — achieving the highest scores among all conference schools and competitors in their categories:

  • Eli Van De Burg — American Literature (2x Academic Bowl medalist)
  • Grace Huhn — British Literature

Congratulations to all of our academic scholars!

DECA Update

Badger DECA members break school record for International Qualifiers at Wisconsin DECA State Career Development Conference!

Thirty-six students from Badger High School competed at the Wisconsin DECA State Career Development Conference on February 23- 25th. DECA members traveled to the Grand Geneva Resort to compete in 28 occupational series events and prepare written project presentations. Over 1,500 students from Wisconsin participated in this conference.

Twenty-seven of those Badger DECA members were recognized on stage by earning medals in either their 100-question cluster test, one of the two role-play events in their event category, or a top ten finalist medal. Our chapter members captured 56 individual medals. Twenty-three members earned a champion medal for placing first through tenth place in their event.

“In my 27-year teaching career, this is the top-performing group of students we have ever had,” said advisor Phil Huff. The International Career Development Conference will be held April 25-29 in Atlanta, Georgia. “Please congratulate these students on their outstanding performance if you see them. Interested in taking college courses?

Request your college classes by March 1st for Fall 2026. Classes are paid by the high school through Start College Now and Early College Credit Program. Applications are available in the Counseling Center.

Interested in on the job training? Youth Apprenticeship is the option for you. Stop by the counseling office and meet with Ms. Ingo (Career & Technical Education Coordinator) for more information.

Dismissal Expectations

Students are expected to leave the school premises immediately after dismissal at 2:45PM. Students may remain on school grounds only if they are participating in an extracurricular activity, receiving academic assistance, or involved in a sport. If a student is released early from their activity, they must wait in the Union until their ride arrives or the late bus departs. Students may NOT roam around the school at any time.

Buses will run Monday through Thursday at 4:30PM and 5:45PM. On Fridays, one bus will run at 5:45PM. Students must have a pass from a teacher or coach to ride the late buses.

Student Attendance Notification

If your student will need to leave during the school day, please be sure to notify the school office no later than an hour before their departure time; the earlier the better. This helps ensure timeliness for appointments and limits disruption to the learning environment.

Additionally, if you leave a voicemail on the attendance line, please know that your message will be heard as soon as time allows. This may take a while as nearly 100 voicemails are received each day.

Student Illness Guidelines

When to Send Your Child to School or Keep Them Home

At Lake Geneva Schools, we know that regular attendance is key to academic success! Being in class daily helps students build strong habits, stay engaged, and gain valuable social skills. However, we also want to maintain a healthy, germ-free learning environment.

Use this guide (https://bit.ly/healthyLGS) to help decide when your child should attend school or stay home to recover. If your child has a fever over 100.4°F, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, it's best for them to rest at home. For minor symptoms like a runny nose, if there’s no fever, they’re ready for class!

When in doubt, contact the school health office, and let's work together to keep everyone healthy and learning!

Driver Education Grant Program

Driver Education Grant Program

Wisconsin DMV continues to develop the relaunches of the Driver Education Grant program with funding approved in the 2025-2027 biennial budget. Portions of this funding have begun to be released in a quarterly fashion.

The Driver Education Grant Program provides grants to cover driver education tuition costs for 30 hours of classroom coursework, six hours of observation, and six hours of behind-the-wheel training for eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program, have not previously held a driver’s license, and who are between 14.5 and 19 years old may apply for the Driver Education Grant Program.

Students, parents, and all those who may be interested in a notification closer to the time of the launch can sign up with their email at: Wisconsin Department of Transportation Driver Education Grant Program.

COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL

Whom do I contact with a question or suggestion?

Lake Geneva Schools’ communication protocols help promote direct, open, and respectful interactions so that we can quickly and efficiently resolve problems and concerns. The communication protocol starts with the staff member closest to the situation, as that person usually has the most information. However, at times, additional personnel are required to resolve specific concerns. Click here for more information and to view the Lake Geneva Schools Communication Matrix.

Lake Geneva Schools has the ability to use SMS (text) messaging as another communication channel to share important information with families and staff regarding school closures or changes to the school day schedule. Federal law requires recipients to opt-in to receive such messages.

How can I opt-in to receive text messages?

📱Text the word “YES” or Y to 67587 from each wireless device on which you wish to receive texts.
