News and Information

Attendance during finals: Please do not call in to have your student released because they are done with their final and sitting in class. We will not call into a classroom that is giving a final as this disrupts the other students still taking the exam. Also, please make prior arrangements by calling ahead or sending a note with your student if you will be excusing them for their study hall. Thank you.

Daily Attendance

Please make every effort to either call your student in first thing in the morning whether they will be absent the entire day or need to leave early OR send a note with your student so they can get a pass first thing in the morning. Often times when we get late notification we are limited on how quickly we can get a student down to the office. We hate to make you wait and miss an appointment!

Bullying, Harassment, School Safety Reporting

If you have information regarding bullying, harassment, or other non-emergency school safety concerns and would like to report this information, please click here to learn more, fill out a school-specific reporting form to the best of your knowledge, and submit it.

Communication Protocol

Whom do I contact with a question or suggestion? Lake Geneva Schools’ communication protocols help promote direct, open, and respectful interactions so that we quickly and efficiently resolve problems and concerns. The communication protocol starts with the staff member closest to the situation, as that person usually has the most information. However, at times, additional personnel are required to resolve specific concerns. Click here for more information and to view the Lake Geneva Schools Communication Matrix.

Principal's Note

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we navigate this academic year, I want to take a moment and remind everyone about our school’s cell phone procedure.  Our primary goal is to foster an environment where students can fully engage in their learning and maximize their focus during class time.

To support this objective, we continue to implement our cell phone procedure that allows controlled usage while maintaining a focused classroom environment.  Here’s a quick overview of the procedure:

  • Cell phone Use Timings:  Students are permitted to use their cell phones before school, during passing periods, at lunch, and after school.
  • Classroom Procedures:  During class periods, students will be asked to place their cell phones in a designated holder in the classroom.  This practice ensures that students are not distracted by their devices and can actively participate in classroom activities without interruptions.
  • Contacting Students During Class:  If you need to contact your student during class time, please reach out to the office.  We will ensure that any urgent messages are promptly delivered to your student without disrupting the ongoing class session.

All of our classrooms also have a set of expectations created by students that guide the positive learning environment.  Starting the second semester, students will revisit these expectations while aligning them with the three building-wide behavioral expectations:  Appropriate, Responsible, Respectful.  These core values will serve as the framework guiding behaviors and nurturing a positive culture throughout our school community.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy or any other school-related matters, please do not hesitate to contact me.  We greatly appreciate your support in creating a positive learning environment for all our students.

February is the month of course selection.  It may sound too fast, but we are already looking to next school year.  Our Course Guide is now fully online.  Please check out the Badger website to page through the extensive student offerings.  We will use Homeroom time in February for 9th-11th grade students to sign up for their classes.  Please be sure to pay attention to these selections.

Warm Regards,

Jenny Straus

FAFSA

There are major changes and improvements to the 2024–25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. The FAFSA application opens on December 31st! Stay prepared by checking the website regularly, ensuring you're ready to complete it once it's available. While you’re waiting, we strongly recommend you create your account and FSA ID. Your account username and password combination, called your FSA ID, gives you access to certain information online and allows you to sign your FAFSA® form and promissory notes electronically. While you can get your FSA ID as you’re completing the FAFSA form online, getting it ahead of time and using it to fill out the FAFSA form on fafsa.gov cuts down on errors and delays.

Badger Library

Badger Library currently facilitates two programs designed to foster a culture of recreational reading among our student body. The Badger Library Book Club, designed to accommodate the dynamic schedules of students, offers flexible participation in conjunction with other clubs, sports, or during alternate seasons of their engagement in other extra-curricular activities. This club, operating on a quarterly basis, selects young adult, high-interest books from a diverse range of genres. Culminating with a celebratory gathering upon completion of each book, Badger Library Book Club provides an enriching literary experience for its members. In addition, the Badger Library actively engages in the Battle of the Books program which is a statewide literacy promotion initiative. This program involves students forming teams of 3-4 members, collectively reading a curated selection of 20 young adult books spanning various genres and content. These teams then engage in competitive battles showcasing their comprehensive knowledge of the literature. The champion team advances to a statewide competition, thereby benchmarking their performance against other high schools in Wisconsin. Ultimately, our objective is to cultivate a lifelong passion for reading among students by affording them these valuable literary opportunities.
