Ag Science Day

Over 350 third graders from Central-Denison, Star Center, Randall, Traver, Brookwood, and Woods Schools spent time learning about agriculture science at Badger High School on Friday, October 14th. The hands-on experience exposes the children to the career pathways in the world of agriculture and excites them for when they will be students at the high school.

Fall Back 2022

Don’t forget to change your clocks! This year, the clocks “fall back” one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2022.

Gardens of Hope

On Friday, October 21st, Badger High School students from Mrs. Franks' Botany Classes, Mr. Neuser's Classes, Ms. Freeman's SEAL Class, and the Badger Butterfly Effect Club planted yellow tulip bulbs throughout the outdoor spaces at Badger High School. The event was also open to the community to assist in the planting. Five hundred yellow tulip bulbs were donated by community members and distributed by the Walworth County Public Health Department to every school in Walworth County to plant "Gardens of Hope." The gardens will serve as symbols of courage, community, and the importance of ending the stigma surrounding mental health.

Badger High Schools Performing Arts presents their fall musical, Big Fish

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, BIG FISH tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest…and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him—most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. Overflowing with heart and humor, BIG FISH is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre—for an experience that’s richer, funnier, and bigger than life itself.

Principal's Note

You must be present to win! - School Attendance is a KEY.

According to the US Census Bureau, high school graduates earn $10,000.00 more per year than non-graduates. The gap continues to widen for those who pursue a degree after achieving their high school diploma. What does this mean for you and your student? Academic achievement and graduation are tied directly to instruction. And a student cannot participate in that instruction if they are not present.

Under Wisconsin State Statute, students cannot miss more than ten days per year or five days per semester without the absence being exempted. Exempted absences are those that result in some type of medical, legal, religious, or other circumstance approved by an administrator. All must have written notes from the appropriate official. In our Student Handbook, on pages 22-23, the three types of absences are explained in more detail. Students absent without an acceptable excuse for part of or all five days on which school is held during a semester will be considered a habitual truant.

Tardiness to school and class counts toward these ten days (80 hours) as well. Please help us teach this important workplace skill and hold your student accountable for choosing to be late to school or tardy to class.

What can you do to help?

Stress with your student the importance of attendance to success in school and beyond; whenever possible, schedule appointments outside the school day and schedule vacations with limited time out of school. We thank you for your continued support.

As we head into late fall, there is much to celebrate. Our fall athletic teams had wonderful seasons, with many teams and individuals heading to the state level in athletic and theater competitions. This month I hope to see you at our theater production of Big Fish and gearing up for a season of concerts and winter sports. This is also a good time of the year to discuss the navigation of winter driving with our teens. The Badger FCCLA has created a list of items we should all have in our trunks for a safe winter driving season. Here is a link to the list from Children's Hospital sporting a picture of Badger students. Trunk-Junk-flier.pdf
