Dismissal Expectations

Students are expected to leave the school premises immediately after dismissal at 2:45PM. Students may remain on school grounds only if they are participating in an extracurricular activity, receiving academic assistance, or involved in a sport. If a student is released early from their activity, they must wait in the Union until their ride arrives or the late bus departs. Students may NOT roam around the school at any time.

Buses will run Monday through Thursday at 4:30PM and 5:45PM. On Fridays, one bus will run at 5:45PM. Students must have a pass from a teacher or coach to ride the late buses.

Student Attendance Notification

If your student will need to leave during the school day, please be sure to notify the school office no later than an hour before their departure time; the earlier the better. This helps ensure timeliness for appointments and limits disruption to the learning environment.

Additionally, if you leave a voicemail on the attendance line, please know that your message will be heard as soon as time allows. This may take a while as nearly 100 voicemails are received each day.

Dual Credit Classes at Badger

At Badger High School, we’re proud to offer a fantastic opportunity through our dual credit classes with UW-Green Bay!

In the 2024-2025 school year alone, our students in French and Spanish earned an incredible 833.5 college credits, saving families a total of $462,525.82 in tuition costs at UW-Green Bay.

Since 2020, Badger students have saved over $1.8 million in tuition by earning college credits while still in high school. This is a fantastic way for our students to get a head start on college, gain valuable experience, and reduce the cost of higher education.

We’re excited to continue supporting our students’ dreams and success with this opportunity. If you would like to learn more or need assistance understanding the impact, please contact Mrs. Julie Busch at Badger.

BHS Exceeded Expectations

Great News: Our Schools Exceed Expectations

We are proud to share some exciting news with our families and community: Lake Geneva Joint #1 School District and Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union (Badger) High School District have Exceeded Expectations on Accountability Report Cards issued in November 2025 by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

According to the DPI, Central-Denison Elementary School Significantly Exceeded Expectations. Star Center Elementary School, Eastview Elementary School, Lake Geneva Middle School, and Badger High School have all Exceeded Expectations.

The DPI report card is an important tool that measures how well schools are supporting student learning and growth. Ratings are based on multiple factors, including academic achievement, student growth, closing learning gaps, and readiness for life after high school. Receiving multiple Exceeds Expectations ratings and a Significantly Exceeds Expectations rating means that our schools are not only meeting state standards, but we are going above and beyond to help students succeed.

This accomplishment reflects the dedication of our teachers and staff, the hard work of our students, the intentional work of district leadership aligned to our strategic plan, and the strong support of our families and community partners. Together, we are creating schools where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

We are especially proud that this success was achieved across all schools in Lake Geneva Schools, from our youngest learners in elementary classrooms to our high school students preparing for college and careers. It shows that our commitment to excellence is consistent across our system.

Thank you to our families and community for being such an important part of our success. Your support, encouragement, and partnership make a difference every day. We will continue to build on this momentum as we work toward even higher goals for our students and schools. Together, we are proving that when schools, families, and communities engage, educate, and empower our students, great things happen.

Student Illness Guidelines

When to Send Your Child to School or Keep Them Home

At Lake Geneva Schools, we know that regular attendance is key to academic success! Being in class daily helps students build strong habits, stay engaged, and gain valuable social skills. However, we also want to maintain a healthy, germ-free learning environment.

Use this guide (https://bit.ly/healthyLGS) to help decide when your child should attend school or stay home to recover. If your child has a fever over 100.4°F, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, it's best for them to rest at home. For minor symptoms like a runny nose, if there’s no fever, they’re ready for class!

When in doubt, contact the school health office, and let's work together to keep everyone healthy and learning!

Driver Education Grant Program

Driver Education Grant Program

Wisconsin DMV continues to develop the relaunches of the Driver Education Grant program with funding approved in the 2025-2027 biennial budget. Portions of this funding have begun to be released in a quarterly fashion.

The Driver Education Grant Program provides grants to cover driver education tuition costs for 30 hours of classroom coursework, six hours of observation, and six hours of behind-the-wheel training for eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program, have not previously held a driver’s license, and who are between 14.5 and 19 years old may apply for the Driver Education Grant Program.

Students, parents, and all those who may be interested in a notification closer to the time of the launch can sign up with their email at: Wisconsin Department of Transportation Driver Education Grant Program.

Junior Conferences

Junior conferences will be starting after our Thanksgiving break on the week of December 1st. Please watch your email for information on how you can sign up to attend with your student. These meetings will cover information that’s important for your student’s success in senior year and beyond. These meetings will be approximately 30-45 minutes and will be held between 7:30am-2:45pm.

FAFSA

The 2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opened on October 1st. We strongly recommend you create your account and fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible. Your account username and password combination, called your FSA ID, gives you access to fill out your FAFSA® form and promissory notes electronically. Both the student and their guardian will need their own FSA ID because student guardians have to fill out the FAFSA form as contributors. Visit https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa for more information.

Holiday Stress

The holiday season is all about giving — and that includes giving yourself whatever you need to reduce stress so you can fully appreciate and find meaning during this time. Because stress affects people in different ways, this can look different for everyone. For some people, it means having time each day for meditation. For others, it means getting plenty of sleep or exercise — or both. Eating nourishing foods, keeping a gratitude journal, and maintaining a normal schedule are other ways that people take care of themselves. If you are at a loss for which self-care activities work best for you, here’s an idea of something you can try: make time to do one thing each day that makes you happy. Incorporating joy into your life with intentionality and reconnecting with the things that mean the most to you is, frankly, what the holidays are all about.

Career and Technical Education

Gateway Technical College presented a certificate celebrating the 886 Badger students who received transcripted credit last year. In 2024-2025, our students have saved $422,825.44 in college tuition! Congratulations to the Badger Transcripted Credit teachers and their students!

Mrs. Samantha Ingo, Badger's Career & Technical Education Coordinator, accepted the certificate. If you are interested in learning more, contact her at samantha.ingo@badger.k12.wi.us today!
