A Busy Spring In Store For Badger...

Well, we've certainly had a blast of some early Spring weather. The springtime is when we have a lot of state assessments, AP tests, and the sprint to graduation.

With that, as families it is good to stay informed and up to date with all the events happening at Badger.  It will be a very busy and fast time of the year.  Please keep attention to emails, mailers, text alerts and phone calls that may contain pertinent information.  Please know that we try our best to not over communicate. Saying that, please know that what we send you is what we deem relevant and important.  Also know that if you feel that you might be missing something to always feel free to contact us at Badger; we are here for you!

Aspire Testing Date For All Freshmen and Sophomores:
  • April 25th All Sophomores
  • May 2nd All Freshmen
The ACT Aspire test assesses student growth from year to year. It can help identify learning gaps and help students stay on track for college readiness, while also preparing students for the content on the ACT college entrance exam.  Learn more here.

These test days will require about ½ the school day to administer.  Encourage a good night's sleep, and something for breakfast.  After testing, students will resume with the remainder of their classes that day.

Graduation Is On The Horizon
Family members of Seniors, please watch for information in regards to graduation. I know it's only March, but it will be here quick.  Also work with your student to encourage them to maintain and stay on top with course work in their classes.  It is very important to finish strong.  The celebration is near and I look forward to presenting the class of 2017 candidates to the school board for meeting the necessary graduation requirements.  Please reach out to our counselors if you need any help or just a question answered.

"Badger High School is a Value Up school.  We recognize that each person in this school is valuable and of equal value.  That value is not determined by appearance, success, intelligence, or behavior.  It is found in our potential to treat each other well, to learn and grow, and because tomorrow has yet to be lived."

Badger Good News
Math Students of the Month
Congrats, Kyle May & Anh Bui

Kyle May,  nominated by Ms. Tammy Larwa, is a great role model in Algebra 2 class.  He walks into the classroom with a smile on his face and a good attitude.  His homework is always complete and he uses his time wisely in class.  These qualities, coupled with his strong math skills, rewarded him with the honor of receiving the highest grade on the Semester 1 Final Exam out of all of Ms. Larwa's Algebra 2 students. Congratulations Kyle!  Keep up the good work.

Anh Bui,  nominated by Ms. Rachel Nelson, scored the highest of all Geometry students on the first semester final exam. In addition, she always completes homework and assessments in a highly organized and detailed fashion and demonstrates a deep understanding of the concepts being taught. It is a great pleasure to have her in class. Ms. Nelson encourages her to further her studies in mathematics.

Badger Students Achieve
 National Manufacturing Certification

Congratulations to the following Badger High School seniors on achieving their national industry certification in production technician safety from the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council: Tyler Galitz, Zachary Wiles, Jake Thiel, Jordan Larson, Gerardo Cervantes, Brandon Heelein. Not pictured: Michael Brenner

MSSC is an industry-led training, assessment and certification system. Based upon federally-endorsed national standards, MSSC offers workers the opportunity to demonstrate that they have mastered the skills increasingly needed in today's high-
growth, technology-intensive jobs.

Each student who achieved the MSSC certification also earned 1 transferable college credit to Gateway Technical College.

Leadership Dynamics To Offer "Badger Connect"  App For Students

Students in Mr. Gebhardt's Leadership Dynamics class are excited to announce their new project.

On  March 1 , the group will roll out a new app for the students of Badger High. The app can be found under the name  "Badger Connect" in either the App Store for iPhones or in Google Play for Androids.

The app will provide students with direct access to the bell schedule, lunch menu, and calendar of school events (these are also available on the school website).

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to fill out surveys and see the school-wide results, as well as watch humorous and informative videos.

Lastly, the app will offer a "Student Recognition" page, where students will highlight the accomplishments of fellow students both in and out of the classroom. (Art projects, volunteer work, sports awards, etc.)

The app is absolutely free and will only be available to Badger students through their school gmail login.
