Digital equity has become an urgent issue as schools provide more and more of their students with mobile devices to take home although 20% of Wisconsin households do not have access to the internet.
For many children and adults, the public library is the only source of internet access.
The
Internet Discount Finder
, created by the Wisconsin Public Services Commission, can help low-income households find discounted internet service. Discounts are as deep as 80%.

Senior photos are due October 30, 2018. Late photos will not be accepted. If you do not submit a photo, your student ID photo will be used. Photographs must be vertical format, high resolution, school appropriate, and submitted digitally. Directions for submitting photographs are posted on the yearbook website located on the Badger High School page. A confirmation email will be sent to the person who submits the photograph. If your photographer submits your photograph, check with the photographer to see if they received the confirmation. Students are required to double check a list that will be posted by the pool in December to ensure their photograph was correctly placed in the yearbook. Checking this list will be extremely important as it is the only way to make sure no mistakes were made. Direct questions to Mrs. Weimer or Mrs. Neighbors in the art department.

Welcome Class of 2022 to Badger High School in addition to our Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. The 2018-19 school year is off and running. Believe it or not we are almost at progress marking time for quarter one. With that, we will have our first conferences of the year on Wednesday, October 17th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in our PE Center. This is a great time to meet with teachers and learn about your student's progress and what they will be doing for the remainder of the term. Please allow plenty of time to meet our teachers as this is a first come, first served setting. We try to limit each conference to 5 minutes to allow for as many as possible to get face time with our teachers. If you require more time, please feel free to schedule a follow up meeting with that teacher.
Homecoming is the week of October 8th-13th. Please discuss with your student the importance of good behavior that week. Encourage them to get involved in the week's activities and attend the game on Friday. We will have our dance in the Main Gym on Saturday night. Tickets should be purchased in advance and all are required to have a signed permission slip to attend as well as all fees and fines paid. All students in good academic and attendance/discipline standing are welcome to attend.
School Safety has and will continue to be a big focus with the Lake Geneva Schools and Badger High School. With that, we have enhanced our building security by adding a new visitor check-in system in the main office. If you are planning to be in our building during school hours please bring a state issued ID or Driver's License. Our system will perform an instant background check and then issue a visitor's badge. All guests to Badger should be checking in through the Main Office and also checking out there. Additionally, our buzzer entry has been relocated to the exterior set of doors by the main office. Please look for signage on that door to gain entry. The buzzer is on the concrete brick wall adjacent to the access door.

PSAT
Badger High School is administering the PSAT test to 80 junior or sophomore students who would like to take it on Wednesday, October 10
th
from 7:45 – 12:00 at Badger. The PSAT is a great way to get ready for college as it measures reading, writing, language and math skills in a format similar to the ACT and SAT tests. This test also provides the opportunity for students to compete for recognition and scholarships through the National Merit Scholarship Program. To sign up for the test, students need to bring a $16.00 check made payable to Badger High School to Ms. Ingersoll in the Counseling Center. The deadline to register for the test is this Friday, October 5
th
. We are unable to take any late registrations so make sure to have students turn in their check right away so they do not miss this opportunity. If you have any questions, please contact the Counseling Center.
Seniors' Meetings
Throughout the fall, counselors will be meeting with seniors to discuss the college application process, how to send transcripts and ACT scores, discuss the working world and general information with regard to senior year and life after high school. Students will be called down by their counselor for their meeting and a letter will be sent home following the meeting.
College Representatives
There are many college representatives visiting Badger this Fall. Listen to announcements or check the counseling webpage to see what schools will be here and when so you don't miss your chance to meet with them and get your questions answered! Remember to get a pass from Mrs. Ingersoll before coming.
Junior Meetings
Throughout the winter months, counselors will be meeting with juniors and their parents to discuss what to expect from the rest of the school year, senior year, the college planning and research process, grades and standing, and other important information. Watch for a letter home on scheduling the junior meeting with each counselor.
Transcripts
Students needing to send transcripts need to use
www.parchment.com
. The account is free to set up and 2 copies can be sent for free. They are $3.00 for each additional copy. If a paper copy is needed for any reason, please contact Mrs. Ingersoll in the Counseling Center.
ACT scores
ACT scores can be sent to colleges through
www.actstudent.org
. If an account is not already set up, students will need to create an account to send scores. Many colleges will not accept paper or e-mailed copies. Scores will need to be sent directly from ACT.
