Students Complete CNA Program
|
Thirteen students from Badger High School and Wilmot High School completed Gateway Technical College's Nursing Assistant Basic program in preparation for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) licensure exam. The program included classroom learning at Badger High School followed by hands-on clinical learning at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn. CNA is a high demand job in Southeast Wisconsin.
At Badger, CNA is offered three times per year, summer, fall and spring. The class is open to juniors and seniors in good academic and attendance standing. Successful participants earn three college credits. Many nursing colleges at both the two- and four-year colleges require CNA for admittance to their programs.

Welcome Back to School!
We are excited to start the 2018-19 School Year. Teachers and Staff have been working throughout the summer in preparation of another great year at Badger. With the start of the new school year, just a couple of reminders/points of information:
- Student Fees are paid each year at Badger. These fees cover most classroom lab fees, activity fees, and other associated ordinary student expenses. We need to have these fees paid up in a timely fashion each year. Please contact the main office if you have any questions.
- Chromebooks being issued this year have now switched to a lease program, meaning the district no longer owns the Chromebooks like we did in the first few years. What this means is we can no longer cycle out Chromebooks at the end of each student's high school career as they will be turned back to the leasing company and we will get new ones again. This is a big savings for our district in the long-run. With that, students will still remain accountable for damage to the devices. We ask that students do not put stickers, or tape on the devices. Any questions may be addressed to our Informational Technology Department.
- As we start the year, please be sure to check into Powerschool weekly to monitor your student's progress. Always feel free to contact teachers with questions. Keep that communication flowing so that we can work together to ensure student success. Please also follow our Facebook page and keep up to date with events and pictures of things happening around our building.
- Lastly we have added a new Strategic Objective to our Strategic Plan. This is a focus on School Safety. You will start to notice some changes to building security this year. This is, in part, due to a safety grant we received to enhance security. We have also met with local police and government officials to continue to build partnerships and enhance security protocols. Please know that safety and security are very important to us and we will do whatever we can to continue with that focus.
I wish all students, families, staff and faculty the best this coming school year! I look forward to seeing you at the multitude of great events happening at Badger throughout the school year. Here’s to a great 2018-19 school year!
