Principal's Note
I do hope your Spring Break was enjoyable and there was time to regroup as a family as we all look ahead to the last two months of the 2020-21 school year. This time always flies by and I do have to stop and think about how precious this time is for our Seniors who are moving through a series of “lasts” experiences. Seniors, please be sure to stop and enjoy the experience, thank teachers who have had a positive impact on the person you are becoming, and enjoy time with your classmates. I wanted to give you information on school events coming up in the next few weeks. Very grateful to our teachers, advisors, and coaches for helping to keep activities running smoothly and students engaged outside of the school day. Here are some events to keep on the calendar:

The event will be modified due to COVID guidelines. The event will be open to Badger junior and seniors only and participant numbers will be more limited than in past years. Students should look for email updates and information about ticket sales in the middle of April.

Referendum Update
The Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union High School District (Badger) and the Lake Geneva Jt. #1 District are seeking citizen approval of three referenda questions (two operational and one facility) on the April 6, 2021 ballot. Approval of the three questions will successfully address future economic shortfalls in both districts and facility updates and large maintenance needs at Badger High School. The three referenda questions have been structured in such a way that, if approved, our tax rate will not increase. We urge voters to review the facts, ask questions and make an informed choice on Tuesday, April 6th. Learn more at www.lakegenevaschools.com/district/referendum.

ACT Testing
Scores from the Junior February ACT test will be sent home and delivered to the school near the end of the school year so be on the lookout for those. If you would like to sign your student up to take the ACT test again, go to www.act.org to do so. Badger High School will be hosting an ACT testing date on June 12th, 2021. You'll need to register for this test through the ACT website in order to take the test on this date at Badger. There are other dates available at other locations, which can also be found on the ACT website.

Junior Meetings
The counselors have been busy meeting with the Juniors to go over information regarding their senior year and life after high school. There is a packet of information that we are going through and sending home with each student after we meet. Please take a moment to look this information over with your child if you have not already done so. If you need access to the information that is covered, it can be found at this link: https://bhs.badger.k12.wi.us/cms/One.aspx?portalId=453010&pageId=27530064

Aspire Testing
All Freshman and Sophomores will be taking the ACT Aspire test in April. The ACT Aspire test is designed to map student progress in English, Math, Reading, Science and Writing. This information provides details on which subject skills are well developed and which skills may need more work while preparing students for the ACT test that will be taken during Junior year. Information regarding the Aspire test will be sent to families soon.

Scholarships
Several scholarship deadlines have passed but there are still other scholarships available for Seniors to apply for. Senior students have been given instructions on how to access scholarships on our Badger website where information on each scholarship can be found, as well as the applications. Here is the scholarships link: https://bhs.badger.k12.wi.us/cms/One.aspx?portalId=453010&pageId=24238013

For those Seniors planning to attend a UW school in the fall, check out some other scholarships at this link: https://uwhelp.wisconsin.edu/counselors/navigating-financial-aid/uw-system-scholarship-links/

Students that are attending UW colleges will need to complete placement testing. To register for placement testing and for more information regarding placement testing, please visit the following website:
