Celebrating National Cancer Survivors Month

June is National Cancer Survivors Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the millions of individuals whose lives have been touched by cancer. Survivorship is more than a milestone—it is a lifelong journey that begins at diagnosis and continues through treatment, recovery, and beyond.

Cancer survivorship encompasses not only the physical effects of cancer, but also the emotional, social, and financial challenges that can arise along the way. It also recognizes the important role of caregivers, family members, and loved ones who share in the cancer experience.

At Bag It Cancer, we believe that no one should have to navigate cancer alone. Through our Bag It Bags, educational resources, survivorship tools, and advocacy programs, we help patients, caregivers, and families access the information and support they need to feel more empowered and informed throughout their cancer journey.



This National Cancer Survivors Month, we honor the strength, resilience, and courage of survivors everywhere, while recognizing the communities that support them. Together, we can help ensure that every person facing cancer has the resources they need not only to survive—but to thrive.

For 14 years, Escape to THRIVE has brought together passionate cancer advocates from across the country to learn, connect, grow, and recharge. Created by Bag It Cancer, this unique leadership conference has empowered hundreds of advocates with the skills, confidence, and community needed to make an even greater impact in the cancer space.

We're excited to announce that applications are now open for the 15th Annual Escape to THRIVE Leadership Conference, taking place January 24–28, 2027, at Miraval Tucson in Arizona. Through engaging workshops, meaningful discussions, wellness activities, and opportunities to build lasting relationships with fellow advocates, participants leave inspired, energized, and better equipped to lead.

Whether you're a survivor, caregiver, nonprofit leader, healthcare professional, researcher, or community advocate, Escape to THRIVE offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to invest in yourself while strengthening your advocacy journey.

The conference is a natural extension of Bag It Cancer's mission to educate, support, and empower those impacted by cancer. Just as Bag It provides trusted resources and tools to help individuals navigate a cancer diagnosis, Escape to THRIVE equips advocates with the knowledge, leadership skills, and connections needed to create meaningful change in their communities and across the cancer landscape. Together, these programs help ensure that no one faces cancer alone and that advocates have the support they need to sustain their important work.

AzCHOW Conference (Phoenix, AZ) 

June 25-26th, 2026

AzCHOW is proud to present the Roots 2026 Conference, celebrating our 25th anniversary. This year’s theme, “25 Years Rooted in Care: Elevating Lived Experience, Strengthening Communities, and Investing in a Strong CHW Future,” reflects not only our journey, but all of us as CHWs, CHRs, Promotores de Salud, and Allies.

Cancer Research

Researchers at the University of Maryland are recruiting couples dealing with cancer to participate in a research study examining how financial challenges related to cancer affect couples’ health. Findings from this study will help better understand the experiences of patients and their partners and support the development of an intervention aimed at helping couples cope with the financial impact of cancer. Participation involves completing a 15–20 minute online survey. Each partner will receive a $15 gift card and will also be entered into a drawing to win one of two $100 gift cards (UMD IRB #: 0128-1).

You may be eligible if you:

• are 18 years or older 
• are in a committed relationship and have lived with your partner for at least six months
• have received cancer treatment
• reside in the United States
• can read and understand English. 
• You and your partner both consent to participate
