NOVEMBER 2022
Hello from Bagaduce Music!

Can you believe the energy and excitement that Bagaduce Music is bringing to the area? Frigg, Brooklyn Rider, and our other concerts reminded everyone how important it is to bring the music out of the stacks and into the community. And in 2023 we're introducing weekly classes and ensembles for students of all ages... and none of it is possible without your support.

On this Giving Tuesday (today!) I write to you as the new Executive Director of Bagaduce Music. As a former board member experienced in the ins and outs of this great organization, I’m happy to be in this role as we look toward a new year of building on last season’s success.

Please, if you were inspired by our work this year, and believe that the world needs more music in all contexts, donate to our Annual Appeal. We really do need your help and right away: winter is coming. Bagaduce Music was born from community music-making and it will survive and thrive if we all pitch in to help that vision continue for the next generations.

Give thanks for the hard work of Teresa and our entire staff, and please, send me a vote of confidence in my new role by sending a tax-deductible donation to us here at Bagaduce Music. You'll see more information below. We sincerely appreciate it.

PROGRAMMING NEWS
COMMUNITY MUSIC-MAKING & PLANNING SESSION
SATURDAY DECEMBER 10, 1:30-2:30pm
Help us decide what to offer in 2023! Come to our kickoff event on Saturday, December 10, from 1:30 to 2:30pm for seasonal songs, brainstorm classes with us, and save a spot in a workshop or ensemble.

Have you always wanted to play guitar at a jam session? Do you know a parent with a young child who might benefit from learning to play music together? Do you know someone who dreams of writing songs and sharing them?

We’re eager to offer up these and other experiences for folks of all ages. Help us decide what to offer.

Join Bennett Konensi and some of our favorite local musicians including Molly Gawler, Shepsi Eaton, and others, to learn more, suggest your ideas, and enjoy a few songs and tunes. Festive & fun, come one come all, and bring a friend!
HOLLOW FLAME
As From Our Collection 2022 comes to a close, we would like to congratulate the string quartet, Brooklyn Rider, for their successful October world premiere of Akshaya Tucker’s Hollow Flame, at David’s Folly Farm in Brooksville.

‘The Four Elements’ concert brought vibrant new works to a beautiful old space with spectacular acoustics, and it was a spectacular end to our successful FOC 2022 season.

Hollow Flame was co-commissioned through a partnership between Bagaduce Music and Carnegie Hall.

We wish this Grammy-nominated group the best of luck on December 7th, when they will present the Carnegie Hall premiere of this work. Learn more here.
COLLECTION NEWS
BORROWING IS ON THE RISE!
The library has seen a large increase in lending to performance ensembles and organizations. It is exciting to see more and more chorales and ensembles returning to the stage for their holiday concerts.

Handel’s “Messiah” remains one of our most popular works borrowed this time of year, as are some of the masses written by Beethoven and Bach.

We hope that you will consider borrowing music from our library to play, sing, or perform when your family gathers for the upcoming holidays!

BORROWING REMINDERS

With upcoming holiday closures, remember to take advantage of our Music Return.

  • Any physical music loaned from the library can be returned to us via USPS, even during any closures.
  • If you are in the Blue Hill area for the upcoming holidays you can use the Music Return at the front door of the library. The slot is located to the right of the front door of our main building.
