PRESCHOOL OPEN HOUSE THIS SUNDAY, 11/10/2019

If you have a 3, 4, or 5 year old daughter, please mark your calendars for Sunday, November 10th, for Bais Yaakov Preschool’s annual Open House. This year's theme, "All Around the Seasons" will feature a puppet show, an obstacle course, a wagon ride (weather permitting), many rooms full of multi-sensory activities and of course, the opportunity to sign up on site to attend Bais Yaakov next fall.

We look forward to greeting you on November 10th!
BOOK CLUB
Reading is one of the most fundamental skills a child learns in school. Our teachers have a knack for developing a love for reading throughout each grade. In 4 th  Grade, we introduced our annual book club to encourage every girl to read. For each book read, the girls earn opportunities to gain prizes throughout the year. The teachers work with each student to set manageable reading goals for outside of the classroom while encouraging girls to choose books that are within the  ruach  of Bais Yaakov.
ROSH CHODESH MAR CHESHVAN
Every Rosh Chodesh the Upper Elementary enjoys the opportunity to say Hallel together in the auditorium. We have a beautiful program encouraging mothers and grandmothers to come to this assembly to daven together with their daughter. This month we heard a dvar Torah from Rikki Froehlich in Class 4A, and Morah Hindy Neumann’s class 4C performed a lovely song and poem about the bracha of rain.
SCHOOL WIDE PROGRAM
Monday, the entire Elementary gathered together to begin our school wide program: “ Kavod all Around : A lways R aise O thers U p N ever D own”. The girls learned the theme song and motions and watched a video of this exciting program that runs throughout the year. It was an honor for us to hear from Mrs. Tehila (Seidemann) Lipschutz, a Bais Yaakov Alumna, who inspired the girls to participate in many actions related to kavod and to realize how showing kavod to another person is really showing kavod to Hashem . We look forward to sharing many other activities related to this program, including an evening for mothers. The program is being run l’iluy nishmas our beloved Principal, Rabbi Mendel Freedman, A”H as a tribute to this middah which he truly exemplified.
LUNCH POPCORN PARTY
During lunch, Morah Miriam Nelkin has transformed the bentching experience into one that the girls really enjoy as they earn tickets from their moros for participating in and bentching nicely. Tickets added up to fun popcorn containers that were hung on the auditorium wall.  When the class earned ten containers, they were eligible to participate in the grand popcorn party. B”H, each class earned the party and we had a fantastic time!
SCIENCE PLANTS
Third Grade science classes just completed their first unit of analyzing and examining elements of plant life. They can now identify the parts of a living plant and have each blossomed in their appreciation of the nissim of Hashem, allowing plants to grow and helping us and the entire world by putting oxygen back into the atmosphere for us to enjoy as we breath.
SOCIAL STUDIES ACTIVITY
Fourth Grade gathered together to learn about how the directions of a compass work through the magnetic forces of the Earth’s core. The girls each designed their own compass and had a great time learning in this fun, and interactive manner.
