5TH GRADE TRIP TO THE AQUARIUM
The excited 5th graders boarded the buses with incredible energy as they headed for an afternoon at the National Aquarium . The students enjoyed every moment as they dared to touch moon jellyfish and come face to face with sharks of every size. The incredible feeling of Ma Rabu Maasecha Hashem was felt by all as the girls viewed thousands of sea creatures of every shape and color. The incredible outing culminated with an exciting training and feeding session with the dolphins. Thank you to all the teachers and to the parent volunteers who helped make this trip a huge success.
6TH GRADE BEGINS PREPARATIONS FOR BAS MITZVAH
Part of the excitement in the 6th Grade is the annual Bas Mitzvah Dinner scheduled for Sunday, February 23rd. Preparations are well underway as each 6 th grade girl had a chance to try out for narration, dance, or choir. The girls will soon get their parts and begin practicing for this momentous occasion.
C.A.P. IN 5TH AND 6TH GRADES
Another successful C.A.P. ( Creative Arts Program ) has drawn to a close. This year 5 th and 6 th Graders had the opportunity to let their creativity flow in various activities. The different classes included “Sports Clinic,” “Paint Night,” “Mug-nificent,” “DIY Home Décor,” “Jewelry Design,” and “Capping Cupcakes.” About 150 girls from both grades participated and had a great time.
BAIS YAAKOV MIDDLE SCHOOLERS BRING CHEER TO NURSING HOMES
The 6 th , 7 th, and 8 th Graders visited various nursing homes throughout the Baltimore community, bringing joy and some early Chanukah spirit to the residents. The G.O. arranged a fun project and game to play with the seniors. One nursing home resident was so excited to have the girls there that she could not stop smiling! What a special Kiddush Hashem . Thank you to the Bais Yaakov PTA for sponsoring the transportation for this special trip.
8TH GRADE YOM IYUN
Part of the 8 th Grade program is to incorporate a Yom Iyun led by each homeroom at different times during the year. The 8 th grade had their first Yom Iyun in honor of Rachel Imeinu’s yartzeit . Guest speaker Mrs. Faigy Rosen spoke to the girls about sensitivity. The girls then played a fun game re-enforcing the sensitivity we all need to have when interacting with others. Scrumptious garlic knots and a choice of soups were enjoyed by all the participants in this valuable Yom Iyun .
GEMACH'S "STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN" AND CHANUKAH TOY DRIVE
Gemach 2020 launched a special program called “STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN .” The girls were challenged to “STOP” speaking lashon hara during carpool time (4:37 – 5:30 PM), “LOOK” for something positive that happened that day and share it, and ”LISTEN” to the Gemach hotline on Mondays and Thursdays to earn a special prize.
Gemach is holding its annual Toy Drive where new toys and crafts are donated to Chai Lifeline and Gevuras Yarden . The boxes are already starting to fill up as girls participate in this important mitzvah of bringing joy to others in the community.
SPOTLIGHT ON MRS. CHANA BURN'S NAVI CLASS
Mrs. Chana Burn's Navi Class has been busy making the words of the Navi come alive by making beautiful posters illustrating the messages of Shiras Chana . The girls are expressing themselves in a creative and fun way while making the lessons tangible and enjoyable.
SPOTLIGHT ON MRS. TOVA HOROWITZ'S EXERCISE CLASS
A vital ingredient in the Middle School program are the various minors classes that are offered. Teachers go all out to make their classes exciting and fun. Mrs. Tova Horowitz came up with a creative way to keep the girls moving in Exercise Class . She recently constructed an elaborate obstacle course and had the girls run through it, challenging themselves to complete the obstacle course quickly. Mrs. Horowitz also encourages group participation by having the girls cheer for each other.
