KRIAH KASH BAKERY
The moros in Third Grade, under the direction of Mrs. Chaya Hoffman, make Kriah exciting! As the students read at home and with our dedicated Kriah Tutor, Mrs. Malkey Adler, they earn Kriah Kash, authentic-looking dollars that they save to spend on prizes and treats at various special events. This past Thursday, our assistants transformed Room 162 into a fun-filled bakery where the girls purchased edible and non-edible treats and prizes. The girls are eager and excited to continue learning, and we look forward to highlighting our next "Kriah Store" in a couple of months.
SHABBOS PROGRAM
This past month the Fourth Grade began their annual Shabbos Unit with a Shabbos scavenger hunt all around the school to find the treasure Hashem gave us – which of course, is Shabbos! At the inaugural assembly, the girls enjoyed hearing stories from Mrs. Chedva Reidler about Shabbos as they ate delicious kugel from the Knish Shop. Each week the fourth grade classes focus on another element of Shabbos as they learn more about this most special day.
GEDOLIM - OUR LEADERS
Our schoolwide program is focusing on Emuna this year. One way we build our Emuna in Hashem is through deepening our trust and respect for the Gedolei Torah who guide us in the mesorah from Har Sinai until today. In the Upper Elementary halls, we have posted pictures of Gedolei Torah from recent years and a brief description of these great leaders. The students in Mrs. Yehudis Bamberger's class wanted to know more about them and worked together to prepare informative presentations about these gedolim around the school.
CHANUKAH DANCE ACTIVITY
Writing has come alive in our Fourth Grade reading groups. The students learn to expand their paragraph-writing by adding more details to each supporting sentence they use. On Chanukah, the reading groups joined together to play Musical Sentences. The girls walked around the auditorium until the music stopped playing. Then, they quickly wrote a sentence following the structure of the paragraph at the closest station. The movement added fun and positive associations into the lessons of writing effectively!
